PETALINE is well worth remembering, didn't spot this one because I have never heard of it.

Carol should have spotted QUINOA- she preaches it in her book. Plus UNTOLD in the same round.
If I suddenly have a squirming baby on my lap it probably means that I should start paying it some attention and stop wasting my time messing around on a Countdown forum

ALIQUOT in the QUINOA round. I also got DOGGEREL today and have had quite a few DC-beaters the last few days, maybe they've been going easy. (Oh, I should mention that I still miss loads of obvious stuff, but DC are generally more consistent than I am).

SURGEON in round 2, MOISTURE in round 11 and I think PASTOSE is ok for 7 in round 7.

No mate, 7 was the max in that round. There was also PIXELATE in round 1.

Big thumbs up to John Inverdale in the corner as well, I thought he slotted in superbly :)

Nice show all round today actually.

He's an excellent broadcaster, and would make a great replacement for Des.

John was probably the best first-timer they've had for ages, highlighted by a great anecdote about his horse misfortune. He obviously knew the show's format and style.

Have to jump on board the John Inverdale bandwagon, he comes across very well ... I did wonder if he may actually be a fan of the show.
