Thought Nick was horribly out of order at the start, basically telling Adam he had no chance before the game even began.

Don't think even a max game today would have given him the record but nether-the-less a fantastic performance

Felt for the challenger today - he could have done well against a regular person.

It's somewhat amusing - people feel sorry for the opponents who get obliterated, and they feel sorry for the opponents who give him a close game.Adam Dexter wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 3:00 pm Felt for the challenger today - he could have done well against a regular person.
I think it boils down to feeling sorry for his opponents!

Brilliant run Luke! A very worthy high-scorer! Agree that the opponent today was good.

Luke threw away 2 rounds with reckless declarations which gave him a bit of hope

RECHAIN as a valid alternative to chainer.
I thought Luke had a great run (obviously), but he seemed a lot better in the earlier part of it. He seemed pretty much infallible early on, but he seemed to slip a bit in later games. Well it was mainly games 6 and 8. If I've added up correctly he lost 57 points to the max in the other six games and 60 in those two. But from memory, Elliott Mellor lost only 27 points in total.

I guess it gets a bit more draining when you're recording so many shows in a row (8 shows in 2 days I guess), so not surprised he slowed down a bit later on. He did have a very high set of max games with lots of 9's available, and I'm not sure his run was quite as good as the Luke from the last series despite getting a slightly higher score. But still one of the best octo-runs ever and it will be very hard to see anyone stopping him in the finals (and in with a good shout in the next CoC as well I'd say).

Luke sets the record for the most nine-letter words in preliminary matches with 12.
