MARTINGALE in r4
Numbers alt - (6+1)*9+25+50 = 138
More great stuff from Luke - at this rate we might see another member of the 1000 club!

I'm not dead yet. In a rut right now because of stress from work. I'll be back later in S89. I also plan to bring back the Mastergram - if I can find a way to run a timer or clock through pure MediaWiki without having to upload to Vimeo every time.

Damn - was pleased that that

Luke was excellent today- couldn't help but feel for his opponent who looked crestfallen towards the end. I think Elliott Mellor needs to be on-guard as Luke is chasing his record.

Never mind 1,000 club... his average is currently 138.333... which, over 8 wins, would put him in the eleven hundred club!!

UNCLOSED and TRAMLINE were 2 alternative 8's. At least I think they are ok. What is the goto online dictionary for checking?

5 vowels in R11 was a mistake. The game is sewn up already, so there's no need for defensive picking, and only one (uncommon as far as vowels go) vowel gives a 9 whereas a staggering 10 consonants do so, most of them being extremely common letters. With these sorts of errors creeping in I fear this may be the beginning of the end for Luke.
(For those who can't tell, yes this post is insincere. Congrats on a cracking run so far, Luke.)

I don't think Luke was beaten by anyone on screen during the show, so it looked like it could be a max, but I've just been to the wiki, and it's not a max game.

Yes! I wondered about that too.
Luke seemed to hesitate before his final vowel pick, as though he were fishing... I expected him to go consonant. Afterwards when I checked the SEDATION stems, I was surprised to see that a final vowel gives a 20% chance of a 9 whereas a consonant would have given closer to 50% (assuming all consonant picks are equally likely, which they of course are not... so that percentage becomes greater than 50%).
And the next consonant out was a 'B'

More interesting goaty stuff from RD 13...
The selection was VTLOEIAN before Luke plumbed for a final consonant.
Consonant gives around a 5% chance of a 9, vowel would give 40%ish.
(again the %s do not take letters distribution into account... if they did, both %s would be a bit higher.)

Does JOS mean "just on screen" or something?

It's a bad pun coined by Gevin based on the Verstappens. But I guess that works as well.

This was the original post by the way. And from the wiki article:Rhys Benjamin wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 5:45 pm It's a bad pun coined by Gevin based on the Verstappens. But I guess that works as well.

Should that say "that was not beaten by Dictionary Corner"?A Jos game ... is a game that did not beat Dictionary Corner, but equally could have been beaten.
