I was surprised when this word wasn't allowed.

I think it's been said before that if you have several words of the same length, always go for the most solid one. The dictionary might have changed since you last checked.

It's very strange though. It used to be in, so someone has taken a conscious decision to take it out. They have noticed that people nowadays are more gouty, not goutier like they used to be.

And I may not have been concentrating all that hard, but did both contestants get 500 as 50/10*100?

I was going to come back to this thread to say this. They did indeed. It's too boring a method to be an attempt at "being clever" so it must have just been how they saw it.
