Nice Solve from Bryan in R14 but sadly it's heartbreaking he didn't make it to a fourth win...imagine if he had the answer to the Conundrum as he buzzed in. Fortunately Nick never asked that as it would add even more pain :(

Great game-just the luck of the draw for Brian in the end- as he is a better player than present #1 seed Lewis imo. It was a great game with one of the most high quality I have seen in a prelim in the past few months. If I was a betting man, I would not put it past Bob making it to 8 as he had some great spots today.

My initial impression is that he probably won't do it. He had a decent game today, but seemed to fade, so I think his big lead probably came from him "overperforming" relative to his mean. But we'll find out!

Damn! I risked OVATOR in that round, and unusually for me, it's valid :-)

I would agree that he over performed in the 1st half- he still did a good job, and though the score may not suggest it, I still think he shows promise (though I am yearning for one to liven the series up!)

You mean liven it up like Zarte did for series 78?

I really feel bad for Brian. I got the conundrum and for once I wasn't worrying I was actually wrong. Anyway I feel for Brian the way Nick felt for Lewis after he lost to Sarah.

I just think that this series has been a slow burner so far, and personally we have not necessarily seen a winner yet.

BESTIE as a R11 alt. Not a particularly amazing word, but I was just glad to find it's in the dictionary.

Bryan's buzz was after the 30 seconds lit up on the clock, and after the "boom", but perhaps before the echo of the "boom" had finished tailing off. If he'd got it right, would it have been accepted? Are the buzzers not automatically disabled when the time runs out?

I always thought it more of a boong than a boom.

According to this link Elliot Mellor - presumably the same one that posts here - is appearing at some point:

I presume from what he posts that he's pretty good. Could be the one you're waiting for.
