Spoilers for Thursday 10 March 2016 (Series 74, Prelim 34)

Fantastic showing from Conrad today -- kept me to a crucial and at one point he was 20 ahead. Very good play by Angus as well; unlucky that an Apterite had to come up against one of his own kind on his debut.

When Conrad said "I'll stick with a 7" in the DARIOLE/EXORDIAL round, I wonder if he had a better word in mind. Of course, only JJ Smith may be able to comment reliably on that.

Note regarding the wikicap: Rachel declared "1 away" in Round 3, but didn't say which way or demonstrate a solution. However, 932 is impossible, and 930 has only one solution, which I have therefore labelled as Rachel's.
I'm not dead yet. In a rut right now because of stress from work. I'll be back later in S89. I also plan to bring back the Mastergram - if I can find a way to run a timer or clock through pure MediaWiki without having to upload to Vimeo every time.

Looking at the wiki cap, I think the 8 I was toying with was CALORIED X.

I should have got SUGARS or AUGURS, and I don't know what I did to mess up the numbers but I should have got 7 points from that. But 15 off the max isn't bad. Decent con. It really means a lot that I would have been on crucials with the likes of Johnny and Eddie Byrne in two of my games. I did feel at the time that I was on form.

Bad luck for Angus, he's good enough for a teapot. I was glad to get a good start but I knew he could come back any time so I was never comfortable.

I'm currently polarising opinion among friends over whether or not I was smug. People feel quite strongly either way.

I don't think you're smug. You look like Darcy Oakes though.

I don't think so. There have certainly been much smugger people on the show who have also done much less well.

I had LONGUEUR as well. This is the first time I ever beat both the contestants and DC in a round! :D

Conrad, if you had been on the show a few weeks earlier, you would have encountered smugness personified........John Inverdale!

I don't think you looked at all smug Conrad. You looked relieved when risks paid off, but who wouldn't?

Ah thanks everyone! And thanks for that James, I'm quite self-obsessively trying to find tweets about me, good and bad. Twitter has become a shit site recently though, search function and timelines are poor.

The other thing that people keep saying to me is that me and Rachel are flirting! I think they're just joking though.
