Spoilers For Monday February 29th 2016

Post by James Robinson »

It's a new week, but it isn't just any old day today, as it is February 29th, and today is only the 5th time in Countdown's history that we have had a show on this date. (Even Christmas Day has had more shows than today!!)

Even more interestingly, history could be repeating itself as the last time February 29 came around 4 years ago, the late Peter Lee became an octochamp by defeating James Belshaw (who you might've seen on The Getaway Car this weekend.

And today, Paul Erdunast will be attempting to emulate that feat by becoming an octochamp himself. He's already surpassed Tim Down's octototal, so a win is all he needs to get to the top slot, which would also make his series final as good as guaranteed too.

Julia Bradbury finishes her stint in DC today, before the new BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker steps in tomorrow.

Join Sean for the recap later. ;) :) :D

Very well done, Paul! Fantastic run and a well-deserved octochamp. No doubt you'll be one of the favourites for the series finals.

At the end of Tom Cappleman's run, I noted that he had won 77 of his 120 octorun rounds which I thought might have been the record.

Paul won 82.
