So, we're now in British Summer Time, which in this modern era means horse racing pushing Countdown out of it's slot time, as only one of the next four weeks has a full week of Countdown.......... :o

But, this week (as I know already) definitely has all the hallmarks of being a very interesting week.

For a start, we have Tom Cappleman bidding to become an octochamp this week, and let's face it, barring a complete collapse in both players being able to communicate, Tom will be #1 seed with a win today, but it might not be as easy as it looks, as his opponent today, is someone who has already been in a final of a top TV quiz show in the last year or so, as it is Hamish Galloway, who was runner-up with the Relatives team in Only Connect in the last series (quite appropriate that the final of Only Connect is on tonight on BBC Two, as well :!:  8-) )

Don't forget that Apterite Gerry Tynan will be on our screens on Thursday too, before our early finish for the horses on Friday.

Chris Packham continues in DC for the whole week.

Join Andy for the recap later. ;) :) :D  8-)

Daughter Natasha is watching with me and noticed during Nick's preamble that his watch showed 3.10pm.
Did Nick turn his clock forward two hours instead of one?

No I think it was because it was recorded at 3:10 on a Sunday afternoon.

WD to Tom for completing the run - despite him missing the standard method 954!

Always a joy to see a high quality player reach octochampdom, and Tom brought a measure of modestly-concealed delight to his final numbers game and eightfold success. Wishing you well, Tom, as you go forward to greater heights.

A very good match. Contrary to what Nick said, there were actually only 3 people who got the conundrum in the audience, I was one of them, but was denied the chance to answer again for obvious reasons........... :P

I make it that Tom beat his opponent in 77 of the 120 rounds of his octorun.

As not even Dylan or Jen did as well as that, I'm guessing it could be a record.

I did it by 57 x 5 both times - easy to get sucked into 95 x 3 for the first but couldn't get it for the second that way

Yeah, I got sucked into 95×3 for the first which meant that I couldn't get the second due to the rule saying you have to get them both the same way.

(That didn't happen.)
