Spoilers for Friday January 9th 2015 (S72 P5)
Andy Noden has won every game he's played this week. He's been very strong at letters, at times shaky on the numbers, but always has found the win. If he wins again tdoay, he'll have number 6 under his belt. Can he do it?

I don't think it was said, but Andy could've put a C in his word to make MURICATE.

Well done to Andy for getting a numbers by my favourite method (25 squared). 4x7-3 is also 25.

MIDWATER is an "Entry from US English dictionary", so unless there's been a change of policy then DC were mistaken to offer it as an alternative in whatever round that was.

I thought US words are okay, not US spellings, though of course it is not in ODE3.Innis Carson wrote:MIDWATER is an "Entry from US English dictionary", so unless there's been a change of policy then DC were mistaken to offer it as an alternative in whatever round that was.

US words are OK as long as they are in the right dictionary!Tony Atkins wrote:I thought US words are okay, not US spellings, though of course it is not in ODE3.Innis Carson wrote:MIDWATER is an "Entry from US English dictionary", so unless there's been a change of policy then DC were mistaken to offer it as an alternative in whatever round that was.

I foresaw a mistake like this happening: the "Entry from US English dictionary" isn't particularly emphasized (it could be in bold or a different colour). At least DC didn't offer a word from the Spanish dictionary.Innis Carson wrote:MIDWATER is an "Entry from US English dictionary", so unless there's been a change of policy then DC were mistaken to offer it as an alternative in whatever round that was.

Well played again Andy.
Just to note, if Andy had picked for two vowels at the end of the PIANOLSNA round, he would have got PIANOLSAE - NEOPLASIA.
