5 wins is what Dan McColm has. A sixth is what he can get today. Can he get it done?

Join James for the recap later.

888 earns Dan a subtitle, but it's now 8888. Not sure what that's called.

Alt 2nd numbers (9+6-2)x5x8+7

What's the record for consecutive 8s? I think we're up to 6 now. Also he must be in with a shot of the Gevin scoring record.

A shame about the last two letters rounds, MARQUISE in particular'd been tricky to spot. But overall, very impressive. INAMORATO is one of the better spots I've ever seen on the show, and to get 137 off of just one 9 is remarkable.

I guess Dan got something to eat before the show as he looked better and played marvelously. I was in fact a
little shocked when I beat him on the last two words rounds, but brilliant performance all the same.

Excellent game throughout. Not sure what the Gevin scoring record is but 128 can't be far off. Pity about those two missed maxes at the end. I don't know if it was a max game up to then but it's always more frustrating if the misses come in the end rounds.

It was a max game up until then, but I'm not too bothered about missing the max game on quite a hard word like MARQUISE.

I did indeed get something to eat before this show (a sandwich).

INAMORATO was an absolutely awesome spot.

Another excellent performance Dan, well done! (even though I was hoping you would go 4L in round 3 :D )

I thought about going 4L, but I decided to stick with 1L because I was already in the lead at that point.

Before this game, the highest Gevin score in a 15 rounder (either flavour) was 124, by Jack Hurst and Dylan Taylor. Jack's score of 133 in his game was, until today, the highest score with only one nine letter word.

Whether either Jack or Dylan had had a sandwich beforehand is not recorded.

I'd stuck around in the studio after my episode to watch the rest of the day's recordings, and this show was a joy to behold from the audience. Utter carnage, was pleased for Dan being able to produce a performance of this quality under the studio lights. Inamorato was a phenomenal spot. Felt a bit sorry for his opponent though, poor guy didn't stand a chance!

Well that was just awesome.

Anyone who is a confirmed finalist for this series that didn't poo themselves just a little when watching that deserves my respect.

Speaking of finalists, our 3rd one is confirmed tomorrow: if Dan wins it's him, if he loses (yeah right) then David Stanford is confirmed.

Impressive stuff although I only got CAPROATE as I saw Dan casually swig his water after about 10 seconds.

I felt sorry for Harry who seemed a decent player with a good personality
