Spoilers for Thursday June 26th 2014 (S70 SF2)

Post by Jordan F »

We have one finalist confirmed in Mark Murray. Now we need to get another. To do this, we have to do our semi-final between the number 2 seed, Samir Pilica, and the number 3 seed, Andy Naylor. The winner will face Mark for the trophy tomorrow. Let's see what happens.

Join James for the recap later.

Good game, chaps. Well done to Andy on reaching the final and well done to Samir for making the final four. 8-)

Wow - what a game - didn't expect Samir not to score in the last four rounds. Well done to Andy and also
to our favourite apterite from Stockport for getting the conundrum (I got it just out of time).

Second numbers (also out of time): (75+8) x (8+4) +10 - 25 = 981

Don't think any word beaters today, but one of the alts in the HANDLER-LAUNDER round was LANDLER for those who couldn't decide which of the two to go for!

I MAXED it, with the exception of the 2nd numbers game, but it was a pretty impressive comeback from Andy, in fairness, although I'm sad that Samir isn't through to the final............ :(

PAROTID in round 2, IMPUTE/UPTIME in round 5, LURDANE in round 10 and DEVISOR in round 11.

Could be a very close final, especially if Mark is going to be a bit hit/miss like yesterday's game.............. :?: :?: :?: :? :? :?

(And apologies for no stats today, I fell asleep early and completely forgot them until I was at work :!: :!: :P :P

Well done Andy. A real tough match player.

Just wish I'd beaten him in a crucial conundrum a few months back. :)

On the plus side though, by this time tomorrow, you could say you nearly beat the series champion of Countdown. 8-)

Well played Andy! Some great letters spots to pull ahead towards the end and a gutsy 6 small selection that paid off too! Samir, you've had a great series and there's no shame in losing a hard-fought semi-final like that one.

Nice conundrum solve by that very clever audience member! :ugeek:

Looking forward to the final!

Another niner for Adam and yet another century. Well done, that man."

Fantastic semi final, very close all the way through! That was a great last few rounds by Andy to win the game and I'm sure he'll be a tough opponent for Mark.

Samir, you've played excellently throughout your run, producing some great words and would also have been a very worthy finalist. Bring on the big one!

Same way, but withIN time! Unusual for me ;) Shame RR didn't come back with the answer.
Last numbers alt: (10 + 1 x 10 + 6) x 3 = 348.
Saw parotid too! Must be awake today!
Looking forward to the final though I'm a day behind again ;( Sorry to see Samir go.

I also MAXED it, apart from the rounds where better numbers solutions or longer words were available.
