Does anyone else think Nick's comments on round 2 were IRKSOME?

Vowel was the more likely 9 pick in round 4 - could have been NOSTALGIA/LEGATIONS/ISOLATING

But still a couple of 8s that were missed - not sure why DC only hd 6s as lots of 7s too.Andy Platt wrote:Vowel was the more likely 9 pick in round 4 - could have been NOSTALGIA/LEGATIONS/ISOLATING

(6 + 5 + 3) x 4 x 9 in round 6 if you want to avoid using the 100.

Nice contest there. Thought C2 had done it when he went 13 ahead, but then he couldn't see how to make the 9 (must have been bloody tricky under pressure), but then got the crucial conundrum anyway.
The fact neither of them saw a conundrum that's about as straightforward as it gets for a good 20 seconds only added to the tension. Good stuff.

High quality game there. I think Adrian is the first player from the Reading area to score over 100 since Graeme Cole.
I will have to try and invite him to COREA.

Tom Hargreaves has done it since.Tony Atkins wrote:High quality game there. I think Adrian is the first player from the Reading area to score over 100 since Graeme Cole.

Good quality game today, solid play by both contestants. A crucial is what it deserved. Also I like how Nick always picks up on crucial conundrums now, and refers to the champion's wins, scores, close finishes and so on. He might be reading it off a card, but that isn't the point - it adds to the show and is a personal touch towards the contestants.

Nick is definitely less irritating but I don't think I'll ever really warm to him. Agreed it was a good game today.

I agree, Nick is a different presenter from 12 months ago, and much more warm and affable. Being in touch with the game and the contestants is a real plus point as far as I'm concerned.Graeme Cole wrote:I like how Nick always picks up on crucial conundrums now, and refers to the champion's wins, scores, close finishes and so on. This edition must be high on the 'games nobody deserves to lose' chart. Following on from the last week or so, it really hammered home to me how important the order of the draw is. No offensive to anyone of course

The order of the draw's important? Never noticed myself...Philip Wilson wrote:This edition must be high on the 'games nobody deserves to lose' chart. Following on from the last week or so, it really hammered home to me how important the order of the draw is. No offensive to anyone of course
Possibly the first contestant to accelerate with a mic clipped...
