Another win for Bobby Banerjee, this one a lot closer. Can he get a third?

Did 2nd and 3rd numbers same as Rachel, but also (50+75-3)x8+4=980 and (4x100)-(5x(8+(8/4)))=350

I went for "goldish" in the HIDALGOS round but only OLDISH is okay.

WIDEBAND for a beater in round 13. :geek:
I'm not dead yet. In a rut right now because of stress from work. I'll be back later in S89. I also plan to bring back the Mastergram - if I can find a way to run a timer or clock through pure MediaWiki without having to upload to Vimeo every time.

Thought Danny was a good laugh and made it more entertaining. Doesn't always have to be about getting 13 maxes or having a close game.

Is it just me or did Danny keep on saying "continent" instead of "consonant"?

Hazel Wheeler has been pushed down to fourth on the list of low scores.
But Danny must be top on the list of happiest losers!

A lot of contestants say that. Another thing that annoys me is the use of "another" - which sometimes means
the same type (consonant/vowel) as I just had or sometimes the other type.

Absolutely, if you're not going to win then you might as well enjoy yourself and Danny definitely looked like he was enjoying it!

Early front-runner for Countdown personality of the year 2014.

:D Agreed that Danny's personality was top class! EPIGONE in round 10.

I wonder if there would be any chance of Susie allowing GROUNDEST. I wouldn't have gone for it but GROUND is in as an adjective.

I was thinking about GROUNDEST too, but I wasn't entirely sure. I checked the ODO and it said that GROUND is an attributive adjective, so I wonder if that has something to do with whether GROUNDEST is allowable or not.

Danny was a great character, it's a shame he didn't get a chance to play another game. Bobby seems like a nice chap too though. Series 70's got off to a good start :)

I saw GUERDONS as opposed to ROUNDEST. Also thought of UNDERGOS but it would have needed an extra E.

Indeed. Really felt for him when he could only see a four letter word in the FAINTER round.

Déjà vu. I suspect that FORETOPS is the DC way of avoiding Susie's blushes.

A rather nice retro touch that the offending word is highlighted in pink every time it occurs.

I can never resist trying to solve numbers like the 350 one by a method like
(8x4-4) x 100 / 8

Danny got a rare run-out up front today and we both scored! Lost 4-2 though.

I found this thread again because I did a search for "attributive" (relating to adjectives). But:

How's Danny's football career going now?

He still plays, as do I, but for different teams. I see him around once in a while.
