Spoilers For Monday December 9th 2013

Post by James Robinson »

So, it's the start of the finals on Thursday, and with all the finalists sorted already, we just need to know which of the 4 contestants we'll see again in the New Year when Series 70 commences.

Will it be one of the 3 new challengers, or our 2-time champion, Rod Chatfield, who after scraping through on Thursday, put Jamie Marriott to the sword on Friday, and will be hoping for more of the same today. :D

The DC merry-go-round has returned to normal now, so we can enjoy a whole week of Football Focus' Dan Walker in the corner, making him the only guest to have 2 stints in DC in this series.

Join Graeme for the recap later on. ;) :) :D

METATES in round 5 or whenever it was. Gevin will be happy to know this is a beater.

Round 6, slightly more efficient than Rachel's method is (2 x 7 + 9) x 25 + 3. Optional division or multiplication by 1 at the end.

Yep I got that in R5 too. Quick way to 23 in 2nd numbers was 2x7+9 of course.

Good close game there I guess you could say, even if R14 was a bit cringeworthy

And there were so many ways to make 130 too - eg make 26 and times by 5 or 3x50 and make 20 to subtract.

Was that fudging on the final numbers game by the challenger?

From her reaction I suspect that she realised she had written something down wrong when she went to read it out, and instead of just saying "whoops" tried to wing it. So yes.

Good that Nick moved in reasonably swiftly to keep cringing to a minimum.

Yes, happy to get that one, the brilliant COGITO. :)

ESTUARY in round 1, VELETAS in round 4, EMBOLIC in round 8 and IRONISED in round 11, all as equallers. :)

I thought she maybe had -(10+9) type thing written down but dropped the brackets and confused herself, paused when she realised something wasn't right and couldn't work out how to fix it on the spot. THAT SAID, it would make no sense to "find 19" when this is still one away, you'd only end up with these sort of brackets if you successfully "found 20".
