Yeah I just checked apterous, was a bit surprised. It'll probably get into the next edition of OED.

Definitely should risk REIMPOSED when 50 points ahead to try and get a score over 130, methinks. Kirk doesn't look like an absolute certainty now. This could be the best contest since Gallen vs. Tournoff, if they both make it through.
If you cut a gandiseeg in half, do you get two gandiseegs or two halves of a gandiseeg?

Really well played again Jimmy, even sitting here in my armchair I didn't come close to either of your nines today. Fantastic stuff, can't wait for the finals now!

Yet another rd 14 alternative - ((50 x 9) + 25) - 8 - (5-2)

Another great performance Jimmy, well done.

NUTATION?
If I suddenly have a squirming baby on my lap it probably means that I should start paying it some attention and stop wasting my time messing around on a Countdown forum

I got it that way as well. I thought it was interesting that Jimmy seemingly threw away 7 points here. It was easy to get one away so I can only presume he devoted too much time to getting it bang on but then failed to declare anything as a result. I've often done that playing at home, but in the studio it requires different thinking.

He might have taken a different approach had it still been crucial at r14.

Great performance anyway, Jimmy. You look well set for number 2 seed. I look forward to watching you again next week.

Awesome performance Jimmy. Even with knowing you got REIMPOSED on your run I still missed it (had DEMIREPS) so went 85-98 down. Panic set in. Luckily you messed the numbers and the conundrum so I scraped home 119-112. What a game - quality.

So I sit here all smug because I've come up with, as Suzie would say, the "brilliant" word ANTEATER, and Jimmy chimes in with ALTERNATE. I can only imagine how poor Peter was feeling after that happened to him for the sixth or seventh time.

Another most impressive victory.

Peter seemed to laugh it off. I think he was enjoying himself.

I was so pleased when I spotted ALTERNATE, completely missed the other one though.

The challenger, who had presumably already watched Jimmy in the studio, seemed to know he was going to lose but still enjoyed it anyway. Good stuff.

Yet another alternative for R14:

(50 x 8) + (25 x 2) + 9 + 5 = 464

P.S. This was my 14 year old sister. I think I was too focused on 90 x 5, as, if I may hazard a guess, were Jimmy and Peter.

P.P.S. I think it's May, not March ;)

Yeah, nice one. I suppose that's the sort of solution you get when you're a beginner and you don't look to add a number then multiply. I should've declared something but I thought that there must be an obvious solution and I thought he'd get it spot on so for the full 30 seconds I was just looking to get it exactly.

I think Peter was probably starting to feel his brain turn to mush towards the end under the relentless Gough onslaught. To have spotted SCARES in round 13 but not thought to add the V for SCARVES was a bit tragic.

By extension, you've now described nearly every game I play on apterous as 'a bit tragic'. :-s
