Spoilers for Monday December 22nd 2014 (Special)

Post by Jordan F »

You thought Countdown was over this year? No no no. We have two more specials this week. This one features two of the more senior lady finalists of recent series. First is Eileen Taylor, who made the series 68 semis before losing to our own Andy Platt. Secondly is Priscilla Munday, who made the series 70 quarters before losing to our own Samir Pilica. Who'll win? Factors point to Eileen as a favorite, but we'll have to see how it goes.

Join Andy for the recap later.

MERGED FROM OTHER SIDE     8-) :geek: :ugeek:

Well, Series 71 is done and dusted, so no more Countdown till next year......, right :?: WRONG :!: :!:

Channel 4 producers have decided something that I think they should've done ages ago, getting more episodes on DURING the Christmas break. OK, it may only be 2 specials, but it's a start at least. :D

So, today we have two women of the "older generation" returning to face off against each other.

The 2 women selected are Series 70 quarter-finalist, Priscilla Munday and Series 68 semi-finalist, Eileen Taylor. 8-)

Statistics Corner:

Firstly, Series 70 No.7 Seed Priscilla "The Redhill Ravager" Munday - 6 Wins, 630 Points. (Average: 78.75)
Highest Score: 101 vs. Sam Hodkin (4th Game)
Lowest Score: 44 vs. Samir Pilica (Quarter-Final)
9's Achieved: 0/8
Total Points/Max/%: 630/1055 (60%)
Letters Points/Max/%: 411/669 (61%)
Numbers Points/Max/%: 169/306 (55%)
Conundrum Points/Max/%: 50/80 (63%)

Secondly, Series 68 No.3 Seed Eileen "The Sydenham Superwoman" Taylor - 9 Wins, 905 Points. (Average: 90.5)
Highest Score: 111 vs. Katie Burge (5th Game)
Lowest Score: 65 vs. Andy Platt (Semi-Final)
9's Achieved: 1/5
Total Points/Max/%: 905/1284 (70%)
Letters Points/Max/%: 608/784 (78%)
Numbers Points/Max/%: 247/400 (62%)
Conundrum Points/Max/%: 50/100 (50%)

George Ford-like 2nd numbers: 100 x (9 + 1) x 7 = 7000; 7000 / 8 = 875

Did they deliberately avoid telling the 9s to make the players look better? Nevertheless the players played a good game,
with a close final score.
