I saw something about this on Facebook, but didn't realise quite how awesome an achievement it was - especially with regard to finishing 2nd in a top 10 with so many Grand Masters. Fantastic stuff, well done Oli!

This is a seriously great achievement. Congratulations Oliver!

And congratulations also to Paul Gallen

Yes, not to be outdone.... Paul has won the 'Grand Slam' of Scrabble: Paul is now reigning Irish National Champion, National Scrabble Champion (of the UK), Masters and finally the British Matchplay Scrabble Championship champion. Paul gets to defend his NSC title at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium in two weeks' time which is the semi final stage.
I'd almost forgotten Paul was a Countdown champion too, until Edward's post.

Wow, The tiles will need to be about two metres long for the crowd to see - should be an impressive feat of lifting apart from the words!

Wasn't Countdown's Mark Nyman the world Scrabble champ at one point?
Well done to Oliver.
