Who Would You Like To See Back In DC?

Post by James Robinson »

Well, since Countdown is going to be off our screens for most of next week, I thought I'd set up this poll.

This is based on something that Clive & I were mentioning in Monday's spoilers about past guests and people returning after long spells off. http://www.c4countdown.co.uk/viewtopic. ... 70&start=4

So, I've created a list of everyone who hasn't been in DC since Richard Whiteley's death in 2005, with the obvious exceptions of all those people who have themselves passed away.

Everyone can pick 3 people who haven't been on since then, who they'd possibly like to see return to DC one day. Also, contribute as to why you would like to see them return.

Unfortunately, the list had 108 people (not including people who only made 1 appearance in a Celebrity Countdown episode) and only 100 options are allowed in any 1 poll, so I removed these people for the following reasons.

 Damian Eadie & Mark Nyman - Mainly because both their appearances as guest were accidental.

 Nigel Rees - Mainly because of this interview he did with our favourite newspaper, The Daily Mail.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/ar ... tdown.html

 Denis Norden - Due to retiring from TV due to poor health.

 William Davis, David Jacobs, Pete Murray & Dinah Sheridan - Mainly due to old age. (Not the best of reasons granted, but it's a better reason than getting rid of someone because they were s**t)

So, you have until a week on Monday to vote. I look forward to the results.

Stephen Fry will obviously win this. Good work gone into the poll though, James. Well done.

I thought the discussion was about regulars who haven't been on the show since Carol left. Or is that going to be a separate poll?

That'll probably be a separate one later on, Martin.

I plumped for Vijay Amritraj because I couldn't be bothered to read any more names than that.

It was difficult to pick only 3, but in the end I voted for Joan Bakewell, Tim Brooke-Taylor and Stephen Fry.
I would've liked to be able to have voted for Jimmy Carr, Robert Hardy, Neil Innes and Tony Robinson too.

I chose Rachel Heyhoe-Flint for no other reason than she lives around the corner from me.

So, the vote has ended, and surprise, surprise, Stephen Fry won comfortably, with Jimmy Carr & Sir Terry Wogan in joint 2nd place.

A slightly bad poll really, when you consider that there were more options than votes.

Note to self: Don't make polls in future.
