Countdown Specials - Scenes We'd Like To See

Post by Douglas Wilson »

The concept is stolen from the last round of Mock the Week, where the panelists suggest funny things, yet unlikely to happen under a particular topic ie. unlikely things for a weather reporter to say.

Since Charlie hinted there would be a suprise when the specials are broadcasted I thought it would be cool to start a topic where we suggest what we'd like the suprise to be.

For me, other than the obvious of Rachel wearing slightly less clothes I'd like to see an additional special between James Robinson and Amey.

Back by popular demand the challenger today is James Robinson.
Oh sorry that should have been scenes we are unlikely to see

I think "popular" might be a stretch.

Kirk beat him in the semi final in a crucial conundrum 137 - 129.

Have you ever watched Mock The Week, James? I think Ian was talking about "scenes you'd never see on a Countdown special".

I was just saying that it could be the start of the anecdote, with the correct one, followed by the 2 unusual offerings. Although, if you look at the title, it's "Scenes We'd LIKE TO See", not "Scenes We'd NEVER See".

By the way, I think Mock The Week is a fantastic show. ;) :) :D  8-)

I WAS only thinking of Mock the Week, rather than the title, more entertaining I thought, but never mind.

I knew what you were getting at and was quite humorous but autistic people struggle with such things.

A lot of people put titles of things in quotes or italics even when they're talking about the thing - so presumably when they're talking about the title they'd have to double quote. For example:

"Mock the Week" has the name ""Mock the Week"".

'Hoping to make it 8 wins on the bounce and guarantee a spot in the finals, please welcome back... Clare Sudbery'

'Following Clarke Carlisle, we now have our 2nd professional footballer of the series Thierry Henry in the champions chair. Thierry won his first game yesterday spotting OUTSTEER and PROMATE along the way'

'Our challenger Kai is 13 and his husband Alec is in the audience today'

'Our first quarter finalist has a job and family commitments, has never even heard of apterous and actually knows the meaning of the words he declares'
If I suddenly have a squirming baby on my lap it probably means that I should start paying it some attention and stop wasting my time messing around on a Countdown forum

This is Alistair Stewart's last appearance in Dictionary Corner - we can guarantee he won't be coming back because he's getting an axe through his head.
