Friday 4th April 2008

Post by DaveC »

Hiyo,

I'm disappearing for a week or so on Friday. This means I won't be around for reviewing purposes.

My plan as it stands it to post the review over a week after the game, when I return. However if it appears by someone elses hand in the meantime that's fine by me.

I haven't done one for bloody ages so I'll try to remember to do it - you've earned a rest, Dave.

I believe that's Matt's debut game, and the date of my (3rd) driving test.

Good luck, Matt! (and me)

I hope you all crash and burn in the most humiliating manner possible.

Failure: 2 majors, 4 minors :( My driving's fine tho. Its my friggin nerves! Why is it I could keep my cool in front of millions of viewers on Countdown, but can't pull myself together and drive in front of a stranger for 40 mins w/o fucking it up!

Anyway I've booked in for my 4th test, but I'm not disclosing any details to anyone except my instructor til I pass!

Hopefully thinking of grinding Corby's face into the dirt will keep me calm next time!

What were the majors and minors? I'm learning atm and it would be handy to remember what not to do as it were.

Major 1: Coming out of the test centre I was so friggin nervous  my foot was shaking on the clutch pedal. I started to move and then I stalled it. A van that was already pretty close, nearly went into the back of the car so I pretty much knew it was game over.

Major 2: On doing a left reverse I was so focused on how close I was to the kerb that I forgot to keep looking around, and when a car came from behind I should have seen it and stopped.

I cant remember the minors but of course you're expected to get a couple so 4's pretty good. Apart from that the rest of the drive was fine, and compared to my first test (6 majors!) it went a lot better. I'm feeling a lot more confident in my skillz now and hope it'll be 4th time lucky. I'll definitely let my joy be known on here should that occur :) My girlfriend's mum just failed her test again yesterday though and she'll kill me if I pass before her!

Good luck to you Kirk, I hear bay parking the Starship Enterprise can be a bitch!

Dinos, your appearance on Countdown was last season.

Why would you give your two cents about this?

I was told you're allowed to stall, as long as you're calm about it and put the handbrake on, put it into neutral, switch the key off, then start again - find the bite point and away you go. I was told you'd only get a minor for that.

True, but in my situation stalling the car proved dangerous so he had to give me a major. I did restart the car correctly so if that had been the only thing I failed on I would have been rather pissed off!

Jason this topic hasnt derailed into anything. If you'd looked at the beginning of the thread you'll see my driving test among other things WAS the topic!

If that's not an open invitation for lifts to CONOT, then I don't know what is.

Well in mate.
