Sweet, he'll be one of the first 5 contestants in the new studio.Ben Hunter wrote:Innis Carson is on his way to Manchester as we speak to record tomorrow.
Might see him then, I've got an audience ticket for Tuesday.Ben Hunter wrote:Innis Carson is on his way to Manchester as we speak to record tomorrow.
But not as the first forum member to record at Manchester.Innis Carson wrote:I'll be appearing on the 25th of June.
Ohhh how exciting - we could have a c4c vs c4c match on 25th June. Good retroactive luck Clive!Clive Brooker wrote:But not as the first forum member to record at Manchester.Innis Carson wrote:I'll be appearing on the 25th of June.
I will materialise on set on June 24th.

Sweet, congratumalations mate. Plenty of time to practise as wellDarren Carter wrote:Just passed the telephone audition - got 2 out of 3 conundrums, got both the numbers, and out of 6 letters games I got a 9 and two 8's!
Filming on the 17th June, the last contestant before the long break - so if I win I will be back in September.
Should I wear a baseball cap during filming?Charlie Reams wrote:Sweet, congratumalations mate. Plenty of time to practise as wellDarren Carter wrote:Just passed the telephone audition - got 2 out of 3 conundrums, got both the numbers, and out of 6 letters games I got a 9 and two 8's!

Haha. Yes!Darren Carter wrote: Should I wear a baseball cap during filming?
Oh man! No recording over the end of term? I was looking forward to going to Manchester and watching a recording. How frustrating. All the best anyway.Darren Carter wrote:Just passed the telephone audition - got 2 out of 3 conundrums, got both the numbers, and out of 6 letters games I got a 9 and two 8's!

Which is odd as you'd have thought July would be Jeff's least busy time of the year. (August on the other hand I can understand.)Rich Priest wrote:'Fraid not, no. And best opportunity for a holiday, perhaps?Ben Wilson wrote: Which is odd as you'd have thought July would be Jeff's least busy time of the year
Somebody on the forum, may have been Jon Corby but can't be certain, said that there would definitely be a break as there had been last year. But I've not seen any details. Maybe those going for recordings soon will find out.Neil Zussman wrote:Does anyone happen to know when (if) the break in episodes on TV will be?
I'm the third recording out of five on that day, starting at 2pm, pending final confirmation- here's hoping I get the chance to play you!Darren Carter wrote:Filming on the 17th June, the last contestant before the long break - so if I win I will be back in September.
That's the first game I will be watching in the studio, so I will be cheering you on!Jeffrey Burgin wrote:I'm the third recording out of five on that day, starting at 2pm, pending final confirmation- here's hoping I get the chance to play you!Darren Carter wrote:Filming on the 17th June, the last contestant before the long break - so if I win I will be back in September.
4OD.Hannah O wrote:I'm sure there are good reasons for taking a break (of course everyone will be tired!), but it's a shame that it takes a break at one of the only times when I can watch Countdown Going to school means that I can't even catch Countdown on 4+1.
Jack, well if you pass, you'll be sent a questionnaire of questions about your favourite things, etc, mainly for updating reasons. So, you shouldn't have to worry about being "arseholeish".JackHurst wrote:I opened a letter today telling me that i was invited to attend an audition in Birmingham on the 30th July. Im pretty sure it was a response for the application i made in January. Im not sure what to do for two reasons:
1- Most the stuff on my application form makes me sound like an arse hole
2- I made the application just because i wanted to be on tv, but now i've found apterous i've got a desire to do well on the show which i didn't have before.
So 2 questions really (If anyone can help):
-If i passed, what would be the longest i could have to get better before the people in charge telling me i had to go on because my audition was ages ago.
-Do you think I'd be allowed to update my application form to make myself sound less arseholeish?
If you're not ready to go on TV yet, you'd be better to call them and say you'd like a bit more time to prepare. They'll totally understand and that's much better than accepting the audition and backing out later.JackHurst wrote:I opened a letter today telling me that i was invited to attend an audition in Birmingham on the 30th July. Thanks for the piece of info, i dint know about that.James Robinson wrote: Jack, well if you pass, you'll be sent a questionnaire of questions about your favourite things, etc, mainly for updating reasons. So, you shouldn't have to worry about being "arseholeish".
Thanks for the advice, I think thats what I will do. I don't think I am mature enough to appear on tv without behaving extremely irregularly and disturbingly yet. Plus I think if i keep practising on apterous ill get better bit by bit, so its all good.Charlie Reams wrote:

It all depends on how well you want to do. If you are happy with a good experience and almost definitely get a teapot (I'm sure you would), then go for it now. If you want to be a series winner, wait a while.JackHurst wrote: 2- I made the application just because i wanted to be on tv, but now i've found apterous i've got a desire to do well on the show which i didn't have before.
Is this a subtle way of calling him shit, Darren?Darren Carter wrote: If you want to be a series winner, wait a while.
That seems like a reasonable dichotomy, yes.Kirk Bevins wrote:Is this a subtle way of calling him shit, Darren?Darren Carter wrote: If you want to be a series winner, wait a while.
Is that a subtle way of saying that anyone who fails to win a series is shit, Kirk?Kirk Bevins wrote:Is this a subtle way of calling him shit, Darren?Darren Carter wrote: If you want to be a series winner, wait a while.
You may discover that Charlie has made this point, subtly.Steve Durney wrote:Is that a subtle way of saying that anyone who fails to win a series is shit, Kirk?Kirk Bevins wrote:Is this a subtle way of calling him shit, Darren?Darren Carter wrote: If you want to be a series winner, wait a while.
No no, not at all - he's a very good player and I think he could become an octochamp if he applied now. But to win a series, he would have to be on a level with the likes of you/Hulme/Carson which I don't think he is quite yet (although no doubt he could with a bit more practice, hence me saying wait a while if you want to win a series).Kirk Bevins wrote:Is this a subtle way of calling him shit, Darren?Darren Carter wrote: If you want to be a series winner, wait a while.
Well that depends on whether anyone with the abilities of Hulme and Carson will be applying for series 62. Series 62 will probably feature Eoin, Laddiman v2.0, Michael Davidson, Dale Levell, brilliant non-Apterites and Hamishes etc, all fantastic but are they Hulme/Carson/Kirk level yet? I think lots of applicants will have a good chance next series.Darren Carter wrote:to win a series, he would have to be on a level with the likes of you/Hulme/Carson which I don't think he is quite yet

Does this mean induction is also not well-founded?Kirk Bevins wrote:I didn't think Charlie's point was well made as I didn't understand it.
Friday 18th September for me.Douglas Wilson wrote:FAO Jeff, Darren and Tony
When are your (and in Tony's case your wife's) shows transmitting?
In parallel news, are you the same Darren Carter that appeared in Series 26? I assume not but you never know.Darren Carter wrote:Friday 18th September for me.Douglas Wilson wrote:FAO Jeff, Darren and Tony

I think mine is less forced, tbh.Charlie Reams wrote:Dareenactment Carter.Michael Wallace wrote: Don't think we're fooled Darren Carter, or should that be Dar-been on before Carter.
But it's the same gag as Junaid Mubeenonbefore, which Damian already did. See, we really do need that database.Michael Wallace wrote:I think mine is less forced, tbh.Charlie Reams wrote:Dareenactment Carter.Michael Wallace wrote: Don't think we're fooled Darren Carter, or should that be Dar-been on before Carter.
Yep! I was going to do Larseny and Grand Larseny gags in Matthew's "Has apterous killed Countdown?" thread, but discovered just in time that someone had already done them!Charlie Reams wrote:But it's the same gag as Junaid Mubeenonbefore, which Damian already did. Unfortunately, I can't go on again, but I've got my audience tickets, so I'll be watching out for anyone on the forumJeffrey Burgin wrote:Any Apterites recording at the early September dates?
I'll be keeping my recording date a secret then.James Robinson wrote:Unfortunately, I can't go on again, but I've got my audience tickets, so I'll be watching out for anyone on the forumJeffrey Burgin wrote:Any Apterites recording at the early September dates?
Stop lying. Why would you lie? You're a liar.Ian Dent wrote:I heard Oliver Garner was first game back after the recording break.
