With David Tennant and Michelle Ryan on the cover. There's something of interest to Countdowners on page 155...

Are you trying to sell it to us or something?

Oh no, I'm not suggesting you buy the thing. Just make use of the United Kingdom's many institutions where magazines can be read at one's leisure for free, or "newsagents" as they're known.

Why not? It's the only TV listings magazine worth buying.

I use the online listings from Digiguide, which are (usually) very good.

For w/c April 20th we are promised Countdown hosted by Des O'Connor and Carol Vorderman.

Welcome back Jennifer! Would you believe I've spent two long bus journeys today reading through the new look Radio Times, and didn't even notice that, so well spotted :)

As a former newsagent I'm not sure I can condone the magazines for free approach though ;)

My uncle used to have a paper shop. It blew away.

Is that a Bob Monkhouse one? Actually it's probably Tommy Cooper.

Just had a random flashback then of Richard Digance singing an embarassing song with lyrics "Tommy Cooper, Just Like That, Just Like That, Just Like That . . .". That must have been some years ago on Countdown!

Or maybe Tim Vine. If not, I'll happily donate it to him.

Reminds me of one of my favourite Simpsons quotes:

Homer: Oh Lisa, there's no record of a hurricane ever hitting Springfield.
Lisa: Yes, but the records only go back to 1978 when the hall of records was mysteriously blown away.

@ Jennifer: Oops, just as well you pointed it out - I read RT almost cover to cover but didn't see it tucked away with the solutions.

@ Phil: My observation skills are obviously slipping. I'm a fan of The Simpsons and yet I don't recognise the fab line - which series / episode is it from?

Thanks Phil. I've seen that episode many times, but usually whilst cooking. Must watch on the DVD and give it my full attention!

Not only Susie, but Rachel as well in the new issue!

She is the subject of this week's "What I'm Watching"

Transcript: "I've just come back from holiday, but generally I do watch a lot of TV. Lost is the highlight of my week. I like to save up a few and watch them on DVD. I used to watch The OC and Prison Break, but you could tell they got bored writing it. But because the end of Lost has been planned already, it's been much more thought through.
"I enjoy popular science programmes, the ones aimed at someone with no prior knowledge, because they fill in some of the gaps in the subjects I was learning for about four years. I watched one called Six Degrees Could Change the World [National Geographic], which showed how maths can be used in the real world, and I've just recorded one about Stephen Hawking.
"I watch The X Factor and other reality shows where they are actually displaying a talent - I can't stand anything like Big Brother. But The X Factor is brilliant. You know straightaway if contestants are going to be horrific when the judges ask them who they compare themselves to. When this little old man says, 'Mariah Carey', you just know it's going to be good.
"I love Scott Mills on Radio 1. He's mentioned Countdown a couple of times and I've been in the car screaming. And I get really worked up watching football. I'm a big Man U fan - my dad's got a season ticket so I go to a lot of the games and I listen to Radio 5 Live driving home afterwards. And I love Jeff's show on a Saturday [Countdown host Jeff Stelling's Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports 1]. But I'm not really interested in the lower leagues and I don't read the transfer lists like some of the boys."
