C4C T-shirt

Post by Charlie Reams »

Personally I think it would be pretty cool to have a C4Countdown T-shirt, or maybe an Apterous T-shirt. So I'm wondering

1) Whether anyone else would want one.
2) What to put on it.

If you might be interested in such an item, let me know so I can gauge interest and see whether it's worth doing. I'd be happy to pass them on for cost price, plus maybe a few quid towards the server, but we'll discuss that later.

I wouldn't wear a C4Countdown T-shirt because I would become a pariah among my friends. I wouldn't necessarily say no to an Apterous T-shirt, depending on the design.

No, but you have just reminded me that Damian said I could have a new Countdown polo shirt at CoC, which he failed to deliver :x

Looks like just the kind of fully committed response you were looking for. I'm a no btw. Armani would revoke my sponsorship deal if I wore it, sorry.

You're out of luck - I asked Damian for a smaller one for Kai, but apparently they're not making anymore and have run out of the big ones. Maybe he was just trying to humour you by saying yes!

Ah, okay. It was months ago that he said about it, and I completely forgot to mention it last week.

I think it would be nice to own a C4C or Apterous T-Shirt. Not sure what you would put on it though.

Sounds like a good idea! If it came in a large enough size (aka, 4XL or so), I would probably wear it!

I think Kirk's leading on the suggestions front (I appreciate that it is the only suggestion, but still).

You need to design a funky logo for apterous first, I reckon (or the forum, both are conspicuously lacking). Then you could have a logo on the front (breast-pocket style), and then something hilariously witty that only countdown nerds would get (like Kirk's idea) on the back. My first idea was some list of whatever they're calleds on the back, where you have stems and the letters you can add to them (so, for example, you might have PRORATES+A, PRORATES+E, etc. down the back - it'd give people waiting behind you in queues something to do, at least...).

In short:

1) Design logo(s) for here and apterous.
2) Pick a logo for the front of the shirt.
3) Put something geeky on the back.
4) ...
5) Profit.

I have a t-shirt with an up-arrow saying "the man" and a down-arrow saying "the legend" on it.
Would a C4C t-shirt be in keeping with that level of humour?
If so, yes.

I'd probably get one if they existed. An apterous t-shirt would have to have the logo on it, and maybe something else... like, I went 15 rounds with the Kirkulator or something...

A few people have mentioned how, if there was to be an Apterous t-shirt, it would need to have the Apterous logo... and there isn't one. Last night I had no internet access and decided to make a little mock-up. Now, with internet access restored, I've tarted it up a bit and present it for your delectation:

Any thoughts, comments or criticisms? (Particularly from Charlie, granted that it's his baby and I'm sticking my nose in like an arse.)

What's all this nonsense talk I'm hearing about apterous not having a logo? This is it:

That's all you need. You could have it big, or have it small, either would work.

Okay, the race is on.
Who will be first?

Charlie, with his c4c/Apterous t-shirts
or
MWM with his A-lol/other?

We'll have had plenty of time to save for both by now!

And from past experience -

Get really good quality fabric, not just a limp cotton that falls apart after two washes.
Insist on a non-iron fihish (I will happily pay double for this).

I rather think breast pockets evolved independently, probably as an adjunct to the emergence of reading glasses.
