What's happened to dictionary definitions being shown on screen?

Post by Stewart Gordon »

Back in the day, we had the pencam.

When the laptop was introduced to replace the paper ODE, the pencam was replaced with superimposing a screenshot of the ODO over the central portion of the screen.

However, they then stopped doing this. Does anybody have any idea why?

Because it looked rubbish on screen and you couldn't see it properly, which makes me wonder why they couldn't be bothered to sort it out. They could just've got a screen grab done properly, or even "faked" their own screen grabs to make it look like it came out of a dictionary....

Is that what they said - it looked rubbish? Or are you just hazarding a guess? Furthermore, at the moment I don't remember being unable to see it properly. And you would have thought it would have been sorted out by now.
