Countdowny people you have most mutual friends with on Facebook

I thought it might be interesting to have a look at this to see who the most Countdown-connected Facebookers are. So submit your lists!

When I looked at my friends list, for some people it had a number of mutual friends listed instead of their total number of friends (which it had for most people). But when I clicked on the person, it sometimes gave a different figure. So I always used the figure it gave when I went to the person's page. It's possible I've missed people, but I counted 100 people in my friends list that were Countdowny. Here is the top 26 (anyone I have 60 or more mutual friends with).

1. James Robinson------99
2. Ben Wilson------------90
3. Tracey Mills----------86
4. Innis Carson----------80
5. Edward Byrne--------79
=. Michelle Nevitt------79
=. Thomas Carey-------79
=. Chris Marshall--------79
9. Heather Styles-------78
10. Graeme Cole-------74
=. Jennifer Steadman-74
=. Supee Juachan------74
13. Ann Dibben---------73
14. Kirk Bevins----------72
=. Jack Worsley---------72
16. Zarte Siempre------71
17. Adam Dexter--------70
18. Matty Artell---------69
=. Phyl Styles------------69
20. Phil Collinge--------68
21. Jonathan Wynn-----67
22. Andy Platt----------66
23. Richard Priest------65
24. Ryan Taylor---------64
25. James Laverty------63
26. Alan Young----------62

Same top three as me. A pattern is emerging.

I like looking at the lowest. Who out there hates Countdown and Countdowners, but inexplicably likes me. That's always fun.

Lowest:

0 - Paul Talmey
1 - Quinn James, Angus Eady (although our one mutual friend is non-Countdowny) and Will Gausden
3 - Stewart Wintle and Drew Halliburton

These people all added me, FWIW. #popular

An interesting entry in my list is Charlie Reams in 82nd place with just 19 mutual friends, despite the fact that he runs this forum and Apterous.

Yeah but to be fair, he hates people.

126 with Robbo, 119 with Tracey, 109 with Ben. Dunno if they're the top 3 but I assume so. I'm probably 4th on Jen's with 96

Missed an obvious one - Joseph Krol with 142 (and I expected it to be about double that), but most of them are non-Countdowny.

JR- 157 mutual
Kirk- 134 mutual
Tracey- 129 mutual
Innis- 128 mutual

I have 169 mutual friends with Stewart Holden but a lot of them are scrabblers, so don't count. Still feel like I've won something though.

I'm not sure it counts as a top three if you just assume they're the top three and only check those people!

Well they are on everyone elses. Is there a way to sort through all friends by mutual friend count? If not, don't expect a full list.

I went through one by one and put them in an Excel* thing. Took about an hour.

*Not actually Excel, but the free Libre Office version.

It's interesting seeing other people's lists - I've just scraped onto James's after accepting a friend request since I made my list to bump it to 100. Since James is friends with pretty much everyone, it would appear that the "main" people that I'm currently not friends with are Marcus Hares, Jason Larsen and Phil Jarvis.

Considering I have 81 people on my c4c/apterous friends list on FB, and 80 mutual friends with Robbo, I'm just going to assume he's top

I came late to Facebook - I think I might have been a bit too old for it when it first took off (and as only about half of my real life friends are on it, that may well be borne out, or maybe my friends are just weird). As I remember, I only signed up in January 2010 to see the COLIN 2010 photos.

Then for ages I had this "policy" of only befriending people I'd actually met in REAL LIFE or had spoken to at length over the internet. At least I knew that they were less likely to be insane. I wouldn't dream of asking to be Facebook friends with someone that I'd only ever exchanged a couple of words with online, it would seem frightfully presumptuous. This is probably a silly old-fashioned view to hold, I admit, in today's day and age.

I've sort of let this "policy" slide lately, though. Oh, and I do apologise if I've offended anyone by ignoring their friend request in the past.

I'm sometimes a bit unsure about what to do with some friend requests. Some seem to just be errors - people I can find no connection with - so I normally delete these, but then occasionally you get someone who you have mutual friends with, but you've never actually encountered them yourself. Normally I leave these hanging and end up accepting them after a while.

I've got two of those right now! And a third person who's a quiz equivalent.

I decided to have another look at this, to see how much things have changed. Last time I counted 100 Countdowny Facebook friends - now it's up to 136, or 138 if you count ones with deactivated accounts. Only one of my previous 100 has an active account and is no longer friends with me, so I've managed to retain most people! I always used the number of mutual friends as stated at the top of their page. Anyway, the top of the list based on mutual friends is as follows:

1. James Robinson----------128
2. Tracey Mills---------------111
3. Ben Wilson----------------108
4. Thomas Carey------------105
4. Edward Bryne------------105
6. Jennfier Steadman------103
7. Chris Marshall------------102
8. Zarte Siempre-------------99
9. Innis Carson----------------93
10. Marcus Hares-------------90
11. Graeme Cole-------------89
12. Michelle Nevitt----------88
12. Giles Hutchings----------88
14. Richard Priest------------87
15. Jack Worsley-------------85
16. Andy Platt----------------84
17. Joyce Phillips------------83
17. Jonathan Wynn----------83
17. Adam Dexter-------------83
20. Jason Larsen-------------81
20. James Laverty-----------81
22. Matty Artell--------------79
23. Kirk Bevins---------------78
24. Aiden Linge--------------77
25. Thomas Cappleman-----75
25. Peter Clarke--------------75
27. Sean Fletcher------------74
28. Supee Juchan------------73
28. Mark Murray--------------73
28. Ann Dibben---------------73
28. Dan McColm--------------73
32. Phil Collinge--------------72
32. Dinos Sfyris---------------72
34. Ryan Taylor---------------71
34. Mike Springett------------71
34. Anthony Endsor-----------71
37. Matt Morrison-------------70
37. Conor Travers-------------70
39. Heather Styles------------69
39. Eoin Jackson--------------69
41. Stewart Gordon-----------66
41. Philip Jarvis---------------66
43. Ciaran McCarthy----------65
44. Lauren Hamer-------------64
44. Adam Curran--------------64
46. Phyl Styles-----------------62
46. Mark Deeks----------------62
46. Jeff Clayton---------------62
46. David Barnard-------------62
50. Robert Foster--------------60

133. Thomas Wade-------------3
133. Amy Godel-----------------3
135. Tom Feilding--------------2
135. Kevin McMahon-----------2

Robbo is still top with Tracey overtaking Ben for 2nd. The highest new entry is Marcus Hares at number 10 followed by Joyce Phillips at number 17 and Jason Larsen at number 20. Looking at other people's lists from before, I was aware that Marcus, Jason and Philip Jarvis were the main three missing from my list last time. I have them all now, with Jarv in at number 41.

Richard Heald - since he never comes here. But I don't hold it against him. Some people prefer a more slimline friends list, rather than including anyone they've encountered ever. There was also another that I'm not 100% about. They came up as a friend suggestion once and I took it up and it got accepted, but all the time I was thinking "Weren't we friends before anyway?" So does Facebook do that? You get defriended by someone, and then Facebook suggests you send them a friend request just to make it a bit more awkward.
