Countdown Personality Of The Year

Having just watched the Sports Personality Of The Year this evening, it got me thinking, maybe we could do a similar thing here.
I am sure we all have our favourite contestant(s) from this year, but who is the overall favourite?
Does anyone think it's a good idea to open a vote on this?
Of course, it's quite possible the winner could be a member of this forum. I would suggest a period where nominations are made to take part, then the voting would open with all nominated players there to be voted for until the closing date.

You could even take it further, and have a contestant of the year, an apterite of the year and a c4c user of the year?

We could even have a female version of the prize too?

I personally judge people by penis size, so that works for me.

I mentioned a ladies category due to the fuss that was kicked up about segregating them in another topic, I mean, imagine if they gave Oscars to men and women separately... Wait a minute!

Why is it necessary? You mentioned the Oscars earlier, but that's different. Actresses play significantly different roles in films than actors do. Gender has no effect whatsoever on countdown, apterous, or c4c. Splitting an award for these things into gender categories greatly cheapens it.

Obviously I'm a wee bit biased, but I think gendered Countdown records are worthy of mention if there's a significant disparity between male and female records. Is there a significant disparity between male and female personalities...? :?

Why so aggressive? Callum didn't write that the process of acting was different. He wrote that the roles played by men and women were significantly different. I don't think that's a controversial view.

It's a nonsense though in the context of the conversation. Unless actually the Oscars genuinely are given for differing role types, and it's just ever-so-convenient that they happen to fall into those played by men and those played by women. It's patently absurd.

I feel that the main difference between a potential 'female' category in these awards (which I don't think are a good idea anyway - what's the point? Don't we have enough stats and ranking systems and Countdown-related accolades already?) and gendered awards at the Oscars is that there are so few women in this community that it seems pointless to divide the proposed awards. Yes, there are undoubtedly fewer female leads in films than male, but there are enough for it at least to be a meaningful contest. What's the point of having a scrap between the, like, 3 memorable female contestants of the year when you could have about 30 for the male award, thanks to the male domination of series and CoC? The fact that it would be inevitably less contested means that it would be inevitably devalued in comparison, because the woman has a one in 3 chance of winning rather than a one in 30 one. It would make it feel like a consolation prize.
Dave Preece wrote:Without wanting to sound too aggressive (especially whilst one or two of our female users are reading)...
Why is it necessary to post throwaway, spiteful gendered remarks like that? Seriously.

Ok the race is on, and it will not be gender related, nor was it really intended to be.
This is how it works:
3 awards - Countdown Personality Of The Year, the criteria being the player must have appeared on the show at least once during 2013. It doesn't necessarily matter whether they won a game or not, but any player who may have been a favourite during the year for whatever reason. Perhaps you like a player who made a good joke, or someone who burped the alphabet backwards, or anything else.

Apterite Of The Year - Any player who has played at least one apterus game during 2013, and again not necessarily a winner but someone who has done something to make them your favourite.

C4C User Of The Year - The person who you think has posted the best post on C4C during 2013.

Just post your votes for each category by midnight New Year's Eve, and the winner(s) shall be announced at some point on New Year's Day. :P

Seems a bit serious like, but yeah, here's what I'd throw out

CPY - John Gardner from Giles's series.
Apt - probably Callum for how quickly he has improved in such a short space of time.
C4C - maybe Mark Deeks for this sort of humour.

Oh, I didn't think it was either really good or really bad so not sure whether genuine or sarcasm.

I mean it's interesting to hear what other people were thinking or doing when they were on a TV show, either during the game or before it etc, but it can probably seem conceited or some shit

I was being genuine, and trying to add a few more categories to this thing.

It was interesting to read about what your thought processes were when you were picking. I wonder if anyone else did a blog about their game(s)?
