Does that mean he wins, or makes a tit of himself? I'm hoping both.

Well some people made my mistake!

"One of the UCL contestants looks like he had an accident with his finger and a live socket #universitychallenge"

Can you comment on such allegations?

Mike Brown: "Round 12: T N R S A E I G U

C2: SEATING (7)

That was the best episode of UC ever. Not only did we get to see James Karen being great but me and HB actually managed to answer about 10 questions between us. Insane.

Awesome tweet selection, and yeah, #universitychallenge was pretty hilarious last night. I reckon any future episodes will have to include a drinking game where you drink every time someone tweets that CF looks like Brian May/Edward Scissorhands/Zaphod Beeblebrox.

How great it is that people have been conditioned to think it's super witty to say that any man with curly hair looks like Brian May, even though most of them would have no idea who Brian May is. Also well done CF you dick.

Hmm, I'm tempted to think that most UC watchers would know exactly who Brian May is slash what he looks like, especially with all the astronomy degree stuff and appearances on The Sky At Night. That's cult student viewing. Maybe.

That was a tangential moan which was brought to mind by the tweet, rather than a response to it. And anyway, CF does look exactly like Brian May.

It seemed to me, when I switched on at about 8:20, that you'd realised you had enough points to qualify and decided to do really badly to lure your next opponents into a false sense of security. Right? Right??

Oh please.

Coincidence time: if I heard his introduction correctly, the hottie's full name was Harry Dalton, which is the name of the stable owner in Equus, which is the play I'm currently rehearsing, as I may have mentioned before.

:) Glad people enjoyed. Twitter was a bit mental, yeah. What was particularly amusing was when #universitychallenge started trending and a load of people (who clearly had no idea what it was) started trying to join in with things like "finding enough money to pay the fees, that's my #universitychallenge !" yeeeeeeaaaahhh.

Obviously I watched this in the audience, but I didn't hear a lot of what you can hear watching it on TV. My favourite bit has to be "if you don't say something I'm going to say Caravaggio again", also some of Paxo's facial expressions were awesome.

Can't remember; did he say "Caravaggio" or "pass"?

Indeed, and some terrific answers too; although after Paxo's observation during the intros that "when UCL are right, they're right... and when they're wrong, they're very, very wrong," I was glad CF didn't disappoint with the suggestion that theatre as an art form is considered to have begun in 1600. So much for the Greeks, Romans and much of Shakespeare's career then. :(

Not to mention all those things that apparently happened in 1707.

I think that theatre question is the only one he was annoyed about watching back, because yes, of course it's not bloody theatre and opera was very guessable.

Edit: Actually, no. He's most annoyed about the Kepler's laws question. At one point during our revision phase for UC, I heard him sleep talking about Kepler's laws (which we hadn't studied at all), and so the next day I said "you were sleep talking about Kepler's laws, you should learn them so if they come up you can say you got a question right because you were sleep talking about the subject". And the one thing I got him to learn was "third law third power" :(

Haha, most of the time it's fairly incomprehensible. I think he occasionally asks about treatments he's supposed to be ordering for patients or similar. What's fun is that you can reply with gibberish and it often teases out a bit more conversation :)

Wow. Well, I suppose it's understandable that he's berating himself slightly, but he shouldn't too much because the team won by a satisfying margin and he played a large part in that.

By the way, somebody should so sample CF's incredulous high-pitched "Whaaaat?" and work it into a remix of the UC theme, or something. 8-)

Clearly a deliberate loss to maximise screen time (maybe). Twitter is becoming more and more love/hate with him, but it's hard to see which side is winning. It seems an awful lot of people take the show so seriously that they find it necessary to tweet about how much they hate him for not taking it seriously, which is amusing.
