I'm not happy that APOLUNES is a word as APOLUNE is a mass noun. DIORITES is also listed on Countmax yet DIORITE is a mass noun. I'm learning all these plurals and yet they still have a chance of being disallowed. Every time I learn a plural on apterous now I have to check it up in ODE2r to see if I should really memorise it. Shouldn't Countmax have just definite words in?

Then you'd complain that you stuck with SEDATION when SEDATIONS would be allowed. We're trying to impose consistency on something which is inconsistent. You're right about APOLUNES and DIORITES though.

Yes you're right, it's a hard one - so the end of my argument is here.

I'm sure Mikey won't mind me posting this - it's a joint brag in any case. Some awesome picks from Mikey before a 46-point turnaround and then a truly bathetic goatnundrum.

A distinctly mediocre game from both players, with the possible exception of Round 8. I suspect this is the only time that either of the two maxes have ever been seen. I should also point out that it was Jono's pick, so quite why he selected a second K, I don't know. The cockhead.

Managed to get two 9s today. PETUNIA featured in both games, therefore I'm making it my new lucky flower. I also got my fastest conundrum yet in the first game.

Just played a game with Caesar. This game though is another perfect example of how the bot can miss a straightforward numbers round (Round 10) but then solve a harder numbers round, with a truly baffling solution (Round 14).

Well done mate. Loads of numbers rounds bore me too because to solve a lot of the one large games you use the same algorithm. Trying to get a max game on a letters attack is much more interesting as you're learning new words all the time and memorising how to spot those words.

What about 1 for, say, the highest score in any game (if kept for a month)? Then I would get recognised for my (restarted) 1000 round conundrum attack with Prune. ;)

I dunno. I don't discourage super-long games (hey I even had the record myself once) but I don't think it's anything I particularly want to reward, since it's really just a function of how much free time you have. Although I might add some award for most letters/numbers maxes in a given month, since that rewards quality as well as persistence.

3 large vs. 1 large...although I agree that quite often, it's not any harder at all. But it looks better ;-)

As for Rex, it's not possible, is it? The best you could is draw and go to a crucial conundrum, but then it wouldn't be a Numbers Attack anymore and wouldn't count.

Look, I know beating Apterous Plum wouldn't rank as an achievement for most of you, and I missed some easy words early on (STEALING in Round 3 - duh), but...
  • I've been trying to beat Plum for ages and this was the first time
  • I won a standard game after being 34 points behind in Round 11
  • I got a 9
  • I came to Round 15 10 points down, got the Conundrum, then eventually won after four tie-break Conundrums.
I'm as happy as a pig in one of Gyles Brandreth's after-dinner speeches.

Nice one. I didn't get it in 30 secs. I was locked on 7 x 7 x 5, and spent the rest of the 30 secs being frustrated about getting so close and not being able to make 4 out of what's left.

Argh, don't get locked on something like that. With 6 small and such a high target like 980, the first thing to try was 140x7 and thus 20x7x7. After 1 second had elapsed and I realised 5x4 wasn't the way to go, adding them up was the other alternative that jumped out.

I got it eventually using factorisation. 14 x 14 x 5 works, whereas 7 x 7 x 20 didn't. I liked it, though.

Not a record breaker, but this is my favourite recent speedgoat, has some nice picks and a good ebb and flow to it

If I'd got the conundrum on this one then I'd have the record :( It's probably still worthy of note though because I can't recall the max being so close to the metamax between 2 humans, so good picking from Kirk and lucky picking from me...

Yep, that is currently the closest max/metamax, although we're missing a lot of data. The honour of worst picking goes to this game between me and Junaid.
