That is mathematically impossible.
It just looks that way because there's no "minutes" column.

There seems to be a twilight zone during the last day of subscription. Yesterday I had a message on the homepage saying I had 1 day left. Today it says on the game itself that I'm a full member, but on the website I can't access statland etc. I can still play Ascension, but I can't see the leaderboard on the website.

Your subscription ran out already so if anything you getting a free extra day. Your in-game profile gets cached for a bit, it'll update eventually.

Ah OK, I didn't know if the "expires in 1 day" message was an "expires END" style thing. It seems to have realised that I'm freeloading now anyway (kicked me out mid-Ascension conundrum).

Edit: It now says I have -3 trial games remaining, and I certainly haven't played 53 games this morning.

No idea, but probably the total last year and this is 53. That would seem to make sense. I thought the 50 trial games were replenished for some reason.

Thanks for all the new ODE3 words, Charlie and others.

I just thought I'd mention that Mike Brown's recap said that SENORITA and SENORA are no longer valid in ODE3 because they're capitalised. I've checked the dictionary and this is true, but I've noticed they're both still valid on apterous. The same goes for SENOR.

The Apterous Numbers Solver is completely fucked, and is just pulling numbers out of nowhere in its solutions. It's been happening to me all morning.

Not a bug as such, just a little inconsistency.

This game is listed here (5th December 2009) as being a max game, but on my Superstats page, and the game page itself, the first numbers is counted as a non-max.

I've been getting this all morning too but it's evidently working for some people as the 'Today's games' page keeps being updated.

Any help from the technowizards please?

P.S. I've even tried downloading the latest Java update. (It was doing the same thing before and after the update).

On logging in, I'm getting "Login failed: java.lang.nullPointerException" in the middle of a grey field.

I can hear the login/challenge sound though, so I'm not sure if I'm actually getting logged in but only other people can see me, I can't.

From the Jan 2011 apterous history:
Facts and Figures
This month, apterous gained 96 new users, taking us to 2318 in total. A total of 275339 rounds were played over 19077 games.

The Duel was won by Innis Carson with 5317 points from 64 games. Second was Matt Bayfield with 4913 points from 64 games, and third Oliver Garner with 4759 points from 63 games.
I don't know whether the first paragraph is correct, but with 64 games, the second paragraph seems to cover a period slightly longer than 2 months, which I don't think was as intended.

On Rex's superstats it says he's won 349 out of 520 single conundrums. His average maxes is 0.6712 which ties in with this, but it has his average score as 7.9038.

From apterous history for January 2011: "The Duel was won by Innis Carson with 5317 points from 64 games. Second was Matt Bayfield with 4913 points from 64 games, and third Oliver Garner with 4759 points from 63 games". Obviously there weren't 64 Duels in the month. The reason I care is because I came 3rd and would therefore be inducted into the Hall of Legends for the first (and possibly only) time. Oliver's already in there twice so I'm sure he won't mind 8-)

Well when I gain/lose rating points it says "You gained/lost (whatever) rating points, taking you to 1533." Yes, it says 1533 every time, but it still says my rating is 1074.

Thomas, I've just looked at your latest 30 games and there's only one 15-rounder in there. I think when you haven't yet played a variant 11 times it won't do the rating changes properly; therefore when you play a new variant (less than 11 games) or a custom game (will never be 11 games because it doesn't remember custom formats), it just keeps you on the default 1533 rating points. Hopefully when you've played 11 games in a variant this should change.

I know you're kinda mocking or summat, but really, that link shouldn't be there. Also when I click a score in chat logs it comes up with a load of computer-geekyness.

This game is listed as a 'custom game' but it's just an ordinary 15-rounder. The only thing custom about it was that it was played in two halves, several days apart.

Apologies if this isn't deemed to be a bug, but it does appear to be incorrect.

I've just installed a Java update and it doesn't like apterous. I got an error message for a change though (which moved across the screen 3 times when I clicked "OK" until it finally disappeared). Basically, I was in the middle of picking a letters round (this happened a few times) and this error came up and sort of made a ghost copy of the apterous game lobby (which I find to be impossible to close without quitting Firefox). The game continues running as normal, but with these screenshot-type things all over the screen.

When your rating changes it updates on the list of people in the room but doesn't on the bit about you in the middle that comes up and says your rating / fave variant / pic etc., so you end up with this:

Same happened with me the other day...
Well, I have played Unlimited before, so I didn't need to see the Rules; I needed to click on the Items tab because it said Items [new] so I wanted to see my new item. I accidently clicked on Rules, though, and that was when I noticed that it told me how to play Aegilops instead of Unlimited.

In hyper letters attack, it has four perfect games listed. None of them have any round details available (presumably because they're all really old), but the score in each is less than the max.

"Yes, it's possible, the trick here was quite simple;

1 x 1 = 1"
And it goes on to not be used in the whole solution.

OK, Lockdown then. If the 1 was the locked number, then it must be used in the solution, so a seemingly spurious 1 x 1 is one way of doing it. Still normal behaviour, as I understand it.

How is it bending the rules when it's specifically in the rules?

Because it's like "100 1 3 4 5 6 --> 101"
And apterous says
"6 + 3 = 9
100 + 1 = 101"
