When clicking on letters after a failed conundrum attempt, the patience bar continues to be restarted on each click. Not a problematic occurrence, but possibly non-optimal.

Also, the links to people in the coloured boxes are broken.

I'm pretty sure both of these problems have been reported before. They'll be fixed if/when I overhaul the chat logging system.

Has this been mentioned before? If it has, it still seems to be an issue (albeit a relatively minor one)...
The apterous homepage wrote: The Duellist's 0-SPOILER REMOVED game with Adam Gillard received a nomination for Game of the Week. 5 hours ago.
Because Adam's game with the Duellist was nominated for GotW, I was able to see how many points current leader Adam had scored before I took part in the Duel. On another day (i.e. when the format isn't Hypertouch, which I'm not particularly good at), this could be valuable info for me. For instance, I might find myself 7 points behind Adam with one Letters round of the Duel left to go. I may then choose to adjust my strategy in the final letters round by declaring a safe 8 rather than a risky 9, knowing that the safe 8 is good enough to put me in the lead for the Daily Duel.

One possible solution is to forbid nomination of Duel games for GotW until the day of the Duel is over - a shame, as people might then forget to nominate the game. Alternatively, better still, perhaps the scoreline can simply be removed from the Daily Happenings, and the text can just read "The Duellist's game with Adam..." etc?

Oh, well done to Adam btw. It's a cracking game of his...

In the current chat log (seems to be only the current one whenever you look, corrects itself when a new log starts) the footer appears above the log.
Haven't investigated it from an HTML/CSS viewpoint though.

Yeah those pages are a mess. I've fixed the footer thing (SB4U) but a lot of the HTML is still broken (and can't be fixed since Mac Java can't render valid HTML properly). I'll chuck this into the "things to fix when chatlogs get revamped" bucket.

How is it ok for you to call people racists and homophobes with no evidence yet it's not ok for Ryan to call someone a twat (quite clearly a personal opinion rather than a firm social categorisation) based on impressions built up over time? Seems rather hypocritical. Let's just drop it here before you set me off.

No evidence? You just posted a picture saying that being gay is "bad news for you". That's homophobic. It's not out of order to refer to someone who makes a homophobic post as a homophobe or someone who makes racist posts as a racist. Just as it isn't out of order for Ryan to call me a twat, because I have been a bit of a whiny twat from the annoying whiny defensive posts I've been forced to make. But I don't want to simply ignore comments that I consider to be inappropriate. Ryan's anti-Semitism is fully evident to me (and others who have noticed it too), and if you can't see it then perhaps you'd like me to compile the evidence. I tried to be mature about it by asking him nicely to stop making posts like that in a private message, but he just laughed in my face. He clearly doesn't have the maturity or the inclination to listen to anything I have to say.

Yeah, I'm a bastard - deal with it.

I think the problem is that our sense of humours are at completely different ends of the spectrum.

When an edgy comedian makes a racist joke he isn't himself a racist. Just like I am not anti-Semitic.

I laughed at your PM to me as I seriously thought "is this guy for real?" It really did make me LOL so I thought my reply was quite truthful really.

P.S. You're a twat. (I'm not clever enough to have a proper argument, I just like using swear words. I'm from 'Ull you know)

It's my personal belief you can't be a fucking homophobe when you've kissed men with tongues, albeit drunk. I'll fucking kiss you if I need to.
You didn't go to Co:Lon. That was run by a gay. A wonderful gay. That's clearly evidence that you're a homophobe.

Ryan also meant to say "Jews are wired". As in they are totally on point, he really respects the way they roll.
So not only are you shit-stirring but you're picking him up just for making a typo, and no one likes it when people do that.

I guess our modern society has instilled me with a terrible sense of humour such that I don't find jokes based on societal prejudice funny. As far as I'm concerned, if the comedian in question knows that one of their jokes is racist, they shouldn't tell the joke if they don't want to be seen as racist. I know you were being truthful in all of your comments to me, that's what made me consider you to be an anti-Semite (and more generally, someone who I will end up disagreeing with on most things - like you said, we're at different ends of the spectrum) in the first place. And I totally understand why you've called me a twat (in fact, I've said as much in another post that you may not have seen before you posted this reply); obviously we're just not going to get along so there's not much point in any of this. I will continue to whine at and challenge anyone who makes a post that my limited sense of humour considers to be prejudiced.

The items tab on the in-game window doesn't have a scroll bar, so when you get past 10 rounds with items you can't see them.

I've noticed the scroll bar thing before -- if you go back to chat and then back to items, you get a scroll bar. (But I think new items then don't show up automatically?)

Also a couple times I've had games against the guardian die, leaving this in error tracker:
ClientGame612 [CXPLAY]: net.BlockingLayerInterruptedException: net.BlockingNetworkLayer$FinalObjectExtractedException: Stream ended (final object extracted)
I've copied the entire log if you want it.

Thanks for the advice, but the control panel depicted in those instructions is different to my one. The only thing I have is Java Preferences. If I click the "Network" tab on that, there's a section referring to the cache. There's a button at the bottom "Delete Files...". When I click on that it comes up with this dialogue. I guess pressing "OK" on that will clear the cache. However, when I click "View Cache Files..." it says the Cache Size is 0.0KB. So if it's empty already I can't see that it would help. Should I click "Delete Files..." anyway? Please advise.

Not sure, sorry. You can try googling around for different things, or (if nothing else works) try uninstalling and reinstalling Java.

I tried clearing the cache and that didn't help. I've tried restarting the browser, restarting my computer, and logging out and in on the homepage and that didn't help. According to this page, my Java is working correctly. It's just apterous that doesn't work - my Java works fine in general (I'm guessing it's something to do with the apterous update last night).

Well I've tried googling around (that's how I found the site that tests if your Java is working), but to be honest I don't know what the problem is, so I don't know what I should be searching for. I also don't know how to uninstall Java, seeing as it's built in to the Mac. I also don't want to uninstall Java since it is working correctly. It was working at 11.58 on Saturday night, but not since then. It has to be something technical to do with the server update that I couldn't possibly figure out. If you think you know what the problem is (specifically), please tell me and I'll happily look for ways to fix it. But most of the help pages I've found deal with Java that isn't working at all. I've also tried installing extra Java plug-ins, but when they didn't work I uninstalled them. One thing I found was this, where it eventually turned out that the single website that this person couldn't get on to was looking for the wrong version of Java (I thought this might be the problem, since the Java log started with "java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: Bad version number in .class file". But if you're developing on a Mac and also have the latest version (which I do; I checked software update), then that would affect you as well. So I suppose that can't be it. I tried logging in on Safari instead and I just got the steaming teacup for a while. Then it came up with this update message, after which I tried again after restarting both Firefox and Safari, but just got a piece of paper with an 'X' on it or an '!' on it. I can't really find out anything more from googling without knowing what the specific problem may be.

I can't search on a phrase - if I want to find items about "Series 44", I'm given everything with "series" AND "44", which many more hits than the ones I'm looking for. :x

On the Apterous news feed, if your gender is set to "female", you "celebrate her X-hundredth win" but "comment on his game with Y"/"Z's game with him". (E.g., on Jayne Wisniewski's page; I've seen it on mine before, too.)

I gave up on using Mac OS and went back to Linux. But I'll have a look at this tonight and see if I can figure out what's up.

You didn't go to Co:Lon. That was run by a gay. A wonderful gay. That's clearly evidence that you're a homophobe.
Do any of you realise how many Jews Hitler slept with before he could justify the Holocaust?

How many times, I'm not a gay. And as for whether that post was homophobic, hmmmm.

When I click to start ascension, the window that pops up is too small vertically and doesn't show the 'start climbing' button, you have to expand the window or drag the bottom down to access it as there's no scroll bar either.

When I saw Charlie had posted in this thread, I thought he might have some news. Instead he's banging on about the Health and Safety at Work Act of 1974 (well, that's what Google said).

I believe this is now fixed, and I managed to sign in as you from my Mac. I've given you an extra week on your subscription since you were completely locked out.

I tried a Russian conundrum attack with Giles Hutchings, and it only lets you click one letter (then you can't click any others). I managed to type more letters using my Mac's Cyrillic keyboard, but you really need to be able to click them one by one (since people either don't have a Cyrillic keyboard or, like me, don't know how to use one).

Latest update says we can access September 2009 but we can't as we still get this message:

No Sirree

You cannot access this resource. Reason: the history for this month is not yet available.

After completing a game, the in-game chat window doesn't give you the "you gained/lost N rating points, taking you to X" message like it used to. Is this deliberate, or symptomatic of a bug?

Has no discernable effect on gameplay (in fact if anything it's a good bug) but on the ascension conundrum attack I just played, I botched the final conundrum with 5 seconds to go and despite being the only one to buzz the text read 'no, that's wrong too' and immediately gave the answer, where normally it'd play out the rest of the round. Console and screenshot available on request.
