Apterous Winter Closed Round 2

Post by Andrew Feist »

Bits from last week:
  • Lloyd Pettet and Tom Barnes are 1-1 in both Flight A and the Junior, and tell me they will finish today. The pairings for the Junior are right as they stand. The pairings for Flight A this week have the names in brackets -- if Tom wins the third game, those names should switch.
  • Matt Morrison and Tom Rowell appear not to have played in Flight A. I've written it down as a 0-0 draw.
  • Dan Seasmith didn't play any matches last week and has been given losses. If we don't see him soon.... Those of you who are scheduled to play him this week, keep me posted.
The web site has the matches.

Sorry Andy, have tried - Tom's been super busy this week, going away to do some TV business, and I left him a Facebook message early Saturday hoping to catch him at some point yesterday but never heard back.
Still, draw is a fucking fantastic result for me, so apart from annoying you, cool by me.

Minty result: [insert toothpaste-related humour]

John Gillies 1-2 Adam Gillard

John Gillies 56 - 118 Adam Gillard
INBOARD and VERTIGO gave me a big lead in a game that was closer than the scoreline suggests. John buzzing in for the conundrum gave me just enough time to unscramble it for a PB.

Adam Gillard 90 - 91 John Gillies
I pulled ahead again with AIRDATE, but John's DINGOES brought him back in it and he nicked it on the conundrum after I fluffed it.

John Gillies 80 - 101 Adam Gillard
I won two rounds with ISOBAR and VILLI; the rest were tied, so I had an insurmountable lead when we reached the conundrum.

A close contest against a nice opponent who did the family name proud by beating me on a crucial (take note, Scott).

Andrew I think there's a mistake on the table on the website. For round two you have me down as losing 2-1. I lost 2-0 to Dan Seasmith (102-77 & 81-62) and yet you have no results in his round two box. I know he missed a week so that might have something to do with it but you should double check. Anyway just to reiterate:

Main Tournament Flight A round 2 result.

Dan Seasmith 102-77 Mark James
Dan Seasmith 81-62 Mark James

Apologies again for the lack of links.

In the Junior I beat James Leroux 2-1: 90-84, 84-85, and 78-69.

For some reason I chickened out of SQUILL and opted for QUILLS "just in case" and missed out on pencilling it.
Fucking stupid as you like considering I'd rather have a pencil than a win and I was +10 ahead anyway!

Championship Flight: Oliver Garner 2-0 Ryan Taylor

The 9 did cross my mind in this one and it would have won the game had I actually spotted it. It really was just a split second thought and I had no conviction and didn't note it.

Oliver Garner 109-101 Ryan Taylor

Very close game that came to a crucial conundrum. Sadly none of us solved it!
