CoBliviLon13 (aka CoKX) - 3rd August 2013

I'm sure as many of you know, after the awesome success of last year's CoBliviLon ran by the lovely Amie, there's going to be another one this year, which I'm co-hosting with her. For those who weren't their last year, CoBliviLon is the only nighttime Co event, designed so that people can come down, have a few drinks, and not have to get a hotel if they don't want to, because the first trains will be going not long after the end!

The date has been set as the 3rd August 2013, and whilst we don't have an 100% finalised venue, we can confirm with 99.99999999% certainty, that it will be held at a venue on Grays Inn Road in London, almost right next to Kings Cross station.

We've also already had a fantastic response just on Facebook alone, 32 people, plus Amie and myself have already said they're going to be in attendance. But we want more! Some of these venues we're in talks with are massive, and we really want to make the most of any space we can get, so we're really hoping to get in the vicinity of 50 attendees.

We're not taking payments for the moment, until the venue is 100% concrete, but when we do, as last year, it will be £20 per person, a price which will include a meal and a goodie bag (CoKX condoms, anyone? ;) ) - we'll let you know as soon as we're ready for those :)

So with that in mind, for those who we may not have a way of reaching on facebook, or who just missed the invite, here's the event page - http://www.facebook.com/events/434734486597335/?fref=ts

If you don't use facebook, feel free to put your intention to come (or not to come, but we hope that won't be the case) in the thread here, and we'll still get all the details you need to you.

We really hope to see you all there! :)

James, if you're on facebook you can join the event page which has the link and the updates are far quicker on any changes of plan and any other information you'd need to know, it's far quicker than the forum

If there's gonna be free condoms, can you make them extra large this year please. Many thanks.

Is that because you've got a massive black man bumming you these days?

Do you need condoms in a bumming situation? Asking for a friend.

When is everyone meeting up for the event :?:

I was originally going to go to the Forest v Hudds game, but Nottingham station is out of action for a few weeks, so I'm gonna scrap it, annoyingly. :(

Is there a specific train that everyone's getting :?: :?:

I'm getting the approximately 0900 from Edinburgh and catching up with friends in the afternoon hopefully, or failing that, watching some rugby in north London. Thence to the venue later on. Do we have a venue finalised?

Would you like an update?!?! I think you would!

We can now officially announce the venue for CoBliviLon!

THIS YEAR'S COBLIVILON WILL BE HELD AT "THE GEORGE" ON THE STRAND/FLEET STREET

Those with a better memory amongst you will remember that it was the venue for the pre-drinks for last years event but the event will be held in the upstairs. Due to a comedy night happening beforehand, the tournament itself cannot start until midnight, but we can all gather downstairs before then. Alternatively, you might actually want to check out the comedy. http://www.georgeinthestrand.com/#comedy - tickets are £12.50, doors open at 7, and comedy starts at 8 (Yeah, we may have sold our soul to the pub a little ;) )

As you can possibly imagine, a comedy venue is likely to have a bit more space, and can accomodate 70-80 people, so hopefully there won't be such a squeeze this year!

Due to a slightly higher minimum spend than last year, we are forced to slightly increase the price, but we're still trying to keep it as low as possible at £22 a head. This pub doesn't so a specific pre-ordered menu, but they will be laying on a whole HOST of buffet platters - meat, fish and veggie - but please do let us know if you have any specific dietary requirements.

Amie is now accepting payments, and hopefully you have her e-mail address and PayPal details from last year, but for those who have either lost it, or who weren't in attendance last year, please DO ask for them, and we'll get the details to you straight away.

I think that's everything for now - but I'll get back to you with any more information I can give!

Is it far from King's Cross? (Yes, I know I can look it up, but I'm supposed to be working right now!)

There's a bus that goes from the front of it, can't remember how long it took last year - bout 20 mins? Hopefully someone will back me up on this. Just don't let Ryan direct you once you get off said bus.

Ha, led us around in a circle before going right back to King's X itself. I don't even think it was 20 minutes, seemed quicker.

I merely got confused with the road directions within a tight area. YOU took us to a different part of London!

Ooh, I've never got on a London bus. I always assume that the Tube is the way to go. Actually, it's only a couple of miles, I might walk.

Tube's not the way to go if I'm around unless you want to see a crippled man fly down an escalator in a somersaulting wheelchair...

(I will punch anyone who says they WOULD like to see that)

Exciting announcement!

Due to the nature of the venue change to our friends at The George for this year, we've settled on a loose theme for this years' Cobliv!

So I can now announce that August 3rd shall be...

THE MADNESS OF COBLIVI:LON!

There'll be a hint of madness throughout the proceedings, first of all with your two somewhat barking hosts and even including your goody bags which promise to be quite crackers!

There may be some incentive to join in with the theme as well. So feel free to don your straight jackets and pad your cells!

More to come soon, I'm sure!

If you haven't seen my Facebook posting, I'm getting into London on the evening of the 3rd at 9:29pm if anyone wants to sync trains. I booked this train largely as it only cost a tenner. :-D

I think his name was only just added last night, cos he and his brother were certainly not there when I last counted, and there were 39 then, and 41 now. 8-) :geek:

Cobliv results

"Apterous Nude" is a combination of Amie and Apterous Prune, depending on what round it was. This replaced Ben Wilson who had to pull out.

Innis beat Adam in the third-place play-off (not shown).

In the final between Conor and Jack W, Jack was five points ahead going into R14, and then on his numbers method he said he'd gone wrong when he looked like he'd solved it. He could easily have fudged it, but didn't - in the circumstances it must be the greatest act of sportsmanship we've seen at a co-event. Conor went on to take the conundrum IRUESITAR to win 121-109.

Well done to all the winners and congratulations to Amie and Zarte on a magnificently run event. So gutted I couldn't take part in the end- about half an hour after I arrived at the George my stomach started feeling a little dodgy, and it steadily got worse to the point where by the time we were due to start I was completely doubled over in pain. Apologies if I came across as distant or rude (well, moreso than normal) to anyone trying to talk to me over the course of the day- that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

One thing that amazes me about co-events is how much the standard has increased. This is, of course, entirely down to apterous, but to put it in perspective, at the first COLIN only seven people out of 24 averaged over 50 points per game, and only one averaged over 60. At CoBliv, 24 out of 41 topped the 50 mark, 12 of whom got over 60. As far as I'm concerned, this can only be a good thing. :-)
