We are running CO:REA (Countdown in Reading) on Holy Saturday, 7th April 2012, in Woodley in Reading.

We will be raising money for Tools for Self Reliance and planning lots of Easter fun.

Just to get the ball rolling here (seen as there's been like 80 views of this thread and not one reply). I'm certainly gonna express an interest in this event. I'm pretty sure I'm free on this date and I quite like the charity idea too, adds a new element. After all, people don't enter CO events to really win anything of material value so if the venue is free then money going to charity sounds pretty fair.

Don't know if it's tricky to get to for me or for others (it's kind of middle-ish, right? - I've never been to Burkshire ). Hykeham isn't exactly the easiest place to get to and people still make the necessary travel.

Co-event attendances obviously increase exponentially the more people that sign up. So yeah, I'm just expressing an interest to see if that gets things moving? Although the likelihood is I will put people off coming.

Would probably like to go but don't think it's a goer, Easter Sunday likely to a) be family time, and b) often the worst weekend of the whole year for train maintenance works. Not a definite no though!

It's a good job I don't study geography.

Train is looking like £22.75 each way and it's over 5 hours which means I'd have to stay over 2 nights probably which could get quite pricey. It's still not a no from me though as I might drive down and back in the same day to save on accommodation fees.

It's about a £60 train trip and it also clashes with a darts competition I intend to play in so it's a no from me I'm afraid.

Having looked at the calendar, and also realising that it's the Easter weekend, that means I don't have to book any days off to come down, it's a yes from me.

I'm afraid there's no way I can escape family or golfing obligations on Easter Weekend so it's a no from me I'm afraid.

I have looked at the train fares and it's £8.50 for a single so it could be promising

Me too. It seems that Easter Saturday is 'technically' the Saturday after Easter Sunday, but I would be interested to see what proportion of people would actually assume that's what someone meant by it. If only Tony had put the date down as well to avoid any possible ambiguity.

No, the world is just full of silly people who like to use phrases they don't know the meaning of.

It's simple. The week leading up to Easter is Holy Week. Three of the days in it have specific names (Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday), and the rest just are just Holy *day.

This is followed by Easter Week. Easter Sunday and Easter Monday are well-known days in this week. The rest are named analogously.

You can always avoid using the term Easter Saturday if you don't like its definition. Most people would probably just specify the date rather than refer to the day 6 days after Easter by a special name anyway.

The final day of Lent, OTOH, already has two valid names: Holy Saturday and Easter Eve.
