Just to get the ball rolling here (seen as there's been like 80 views of this thread and not one reply). I'm certainly gonna express an interest in this event. I'm pretty sure I'm free on this date and I quite like the charity idea too, adds a new element. After all, people don't enter CO events to really win anything of material value so if the venue is free then money going to charity sounds pretty fair.

Don't know if it's tricky to get to for me or for others (it's kind of middle-ish, right? - I've never been to Burkshire ;)). Hykeham isn't exactly the easiest place to get to and people still make the necessary travel.

Co-event attendances obviously increase exponentially the more people that sign up. So yeah, I'm just expressing an interest to see if that gets things moving? Although the likelihood is I will put people off coming.

If you call just west of London middle, then, yes, it's middle, Ryan. :)

Would probably like to go but don't think it's a goer, Easter Sunday likely to a) be family time, and b) often the worst weekend of the whole year for train maintenance works. Not a definite no though!

Not sure if I'm free on this date, but I am certainly interested in coming.

It's a good job I don't study geography.

Train is looking like £22.75 each way and it's over 5 hours which means I'd have to stay over 2 nights probably which could get quite pricey. It's still not a no from me though as I might drive down and back in the same day to save on accommodation fees.

It's about a £60 train trip and it also clashes with a darts competition I intend to play in so it's a no from me I'm afraid.

Having looked at the calendar, and also realising that it's the Easter weekend, that means I don't have to book any days off to come down, it's a yes from me. ;) :) :D 8-)

I'm afraid there's no way I can escape family or golfing obligations on Easter Weekend so it's a no from me I'm afraid.

So one of you will be going into the midst of a hostile crowd, with a bunch of louts swearing at each other and being overly critical of the guys in the middle who they're watching playing, perhaps shouting abuse from time to time. Whereas the other will be going to see a nice footy match.

Women shouldn't be allowed at football. Football is like a Yorkie.

Well no, I didn't search around - I just remembered that Crystal Palace had some, so googled them.

But nonetheless, they are not hot? Really? I mean, they might not be to your specific tastes, I'm not saying they necessarily are to mine, but, they are not hot?

Well, aside from the fact that you can't possibly use 'hot' without some level of subjectivity, I'll do my best to summarise:

Image
HOT! (if you're into Jodie Marsh-alikes caked in makeup)

Image
HOT! (if you're into rough birds)

Image
HOT! (if you're into chinless wonders)

Image
HOT! (if you're into eyes that are too close together)

Image
HOT! (if you're into preteens with big cheeks)

Image
HOT! (if you're into wonky noses and shy people)

Image
HOT! (if you're into ugly generic blondes)

Image
HOT! (if you're stuck in 1982)

(In all seriousness, I think it's far worse to look at that picture of the Crystal Palace cheerleaders and go through picking out tiny little perceived imperfections stating why none of them are attractive than it is to look at them and go "phwoar". It's just really unkind. For shame, Matt Morrison, for shame.)

Amusingly, none of the little thumbnail images that you've spent so much effort creating and then commenting on includes the part of the original image that Corby was looking at.

Matt, you should have seen the Leeds Blue Cats Cheerleaders that we had for a season or so in the early 90s. I assure you, this lot look well hot compared to them!

I've always thought Easter Saturday was the day between Good Friday and Easter Sunday. It seems logical to have Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday in the same weekend. I can only imagine this is what everybody else thought too.

Me too. It seems that Easter Saturday is 'technically' the Saturday after Easter Sunday, but I would be interested to see what proportion of people would actually assume that's what someone meant by it. If only Tony had put the date down as well to avoid any possible ambiguity.

Every reference to "Easter Saturday" I've seen (shop opening times, work calendars etc) have referred to the 7th. Is this some stupid religious calendar thing then?

No, the world is just full of silly people who like to use phrases they don't know the meaning of.

It's simple. The week leading up to Easter is Holy Week. Three of the days in it have specific names (Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday), and the rest just are just Holy *day.

This is followed by Easter Week. Easter Sunday and Easter Monday are well-known days in this week. The rest are named analogously.

I think this might be the best joke based on number systems ever made on these forums. Can we have Likes back?

Also, I would automatically have assumed that Easter Saturday was between Good Friday and Easter Sunday. The alternative (i.e. what Stewart says) may well be right but it just seems silly.

You can always avoid using the term Easter Saturday if you don't like its definition. Most people would probably just specify the date rather than refer to the day 6 days after Easter by a special name anyway.

The final day of Lent, OTOH, already has two valid names: Holy Saturday and Easter Eve.

Reminds me of those people who claimed that they weren't going to celebrate the arrival of the year 2000 but would wait until 2001 because that was the "correct" start of the new millennium, thereby managing in one statement to be party poopers, pointlessly anal, and wrong.
