Yeah, good idea. It would be a shame not to share them with a wider audience after all the effort you put in.

Thanks very much to everyone for a great day last Saturday, and congratulations to Richard on pulling through in a superb final. Kirk has reviewed his three games and I can write up the other four in due course.

A tip of the hat also to Karen as Chiffres/Lettres hostess, Ryan for his impersonation of William G and also to Dinos for his Whole 19 Yards slot (I actually thought this felt more like Going for Gold - to be continued...?).

And cake-filled thanks also for both your lovely surprises.

A selection of photos is already on VisageLivre though Bee and I have more to add - to follow this week.

And a reminder that you can come back for more in October! Back to business as usual and the entry fee is a tenner. Do get in touch if you want to sign up.

Cheers
Jeff

So the quarters are now done and we move to the draw for the semi-finals:

SF1: Dinos Sfyris vs Kirk Bevins
SF2: Derek Hazell vs Richard Priest.

Before those, we have a recap of a game of Des chiffres et des lettres between myself and Matt Bayfield. This was a traditional 12-round match (NLL x4) very ably hosted by Karen Pearson (Poirefils) at the computer and Dinos Sfyris at the board. Bon appétit !

A relatively straightforward numbers game and it means the final of COLEI will be decided by a crucial conundrum. How many crucials have I had to win CO-event titles? Countless. Surely my experience in this situation would pull me through?

Round 15: P C W H I S K E R

C2 buzzes on 11 seconds to say SHIPWRECK which is correct.
Final Score: 98–101 (max 117)

It didn't. Rich spots SHIPWRECK on 11 seconds to go ahead for the first time in the match and win the game. Rich is absolutely over the moon and I feel like I've been kicked in the teeth. A great game but the opportunities were there for the win, e.g. HOONED/HOOFED and LUNULATE in particular. Richard wins his first CO-event and maybe the first of many to come. Well played mate.

--

A gripping final and very well done to both for rounding the day's proceedings off with such distinction. Thank you again to everyone who came along, with a special mention to Karen and Ryan for the delightful birthday cakes that they presented to me, and I look forward to seeing you again in October!

Cheers
Jeff
