Somewhere like Salisbury might be quite accessible.

Obviously I'd like Exeter but that's well out of the way for most people (I can only imagine that's the same reason that CoBris hasn't been run recently?).

I vaguely remember this being mentioned as a possibility about a year ago but can't recall who by.

Myself and Supee would attend a London event.

But NORTHampton is in the MIDlands. And SOUTHport is really far north. It's very confusing.

I have been meaning to think about trying to organise a possilbe CoLon at some point. But I'm really lazy. If someone decides to try and do so before I get around to it, I'd be happy to help.

And the midlands don't exist.

Right, so what was the point of your Spanish lesson, if not to imply that there was a problem with the joke?

I'd be up for attending a CoLon event (stop sniggering at the back! ;) ), as I live just outside of London. Although the thought of actually organising one gives me the heebie jeebies.

IIRC, I heard that someone tried organising one a couple of years back which fizzled out due to lack of interest. Of course, there are many more of us interested in going to these events these days.

I would imagine that now, at least, the main problem with London would be finding a venue that we could afford to rent out, without charging people a fortune to attend. I know that one can usually rent a pub in the City at the weekend for a minimum spend of about £750, but that's probably a bit beyond us (maybe). Presumably finding a church or community centre or something might work, a la the other co-s.

I'm with you on this one Ben, but since moving to the south from the midlands, I've discovered that everywhere north of Watford Gap appears to be classed as 'up north' to southerners!

Just to be informative, really. There are always a few people who don't know. It's hardly important, but I felt like mentioning it.

I think the thing is that, apart from the organiser, everyone would have to travel a certain distance anyway. It's not like they're obligatory. Anyone fancy coming to Worcester?

But Leicester is not in the north, e.g. we enjoy warm summers and don't have hills.

You might like to visit the next CoLei and see for yourself..? :)

You live in Eastbourne, Jimmy. Everywhere's "up north". Unless you're suggesting meeting on the Goodwin Sands? On the same day they play the cricket match, perhaps? ;)

Not sure how much momentum the CoLon idea has built up yet. CoWor seemed to have some support.

I've never been to a Co event but I will do so. I realise that doesn't make me an obvious choice for taking this on just now but I have an idea.

Lydney Town Hall is about quarter of a mile from my house and strikes me as a perfect venue. The main area measures about 18 x 10 metres and there is plenty of additional space for general clobber, food etc. It's used by lots of amateur things such as pantos, card evenings, dance practice, cadets, etc., so it can't be too expensive. Parking is a doddle as is train travel. It's not so far from Worcester so Lesley's place could still be a good place to stay for anyone coming from any distance. The first weekend in October would be cool so that anyone so inclined could combine it with a trip to the Ryder Cup.

The nearest big town is Gloucester, so such an event would become CoGlo.

I've just checked where Worcester is and it seems suspiciously above Watford. CoWor could be great, but I wouldn't consider it a solution to the demand for a southern Co-event. Having said that, I've got a friend who I haven't seen for years and she now lives in Worcester, so it gives me an extra incentive for going.

It would be easier for me to get to Leicester than Worcester, and now that I've been reassured that there are no hills there, I'm seriously tempted.

Someone should dig up the person who ran CoRed in Redhill. That's a 20 minute drive from where I live.

Leicester - honestly! That's the place :D If we all get incredibly keen and really, really, really miss each other I'll consider doing a Worcester event, but Leicester's only an hour up the road from me so sorted :D

Come to that, I have no exams and wash my hair every March whether it needs it or not

"Someone should dig up the person who ran CoRed in Redhill.

I am indeed. CoRed didn't get a huge entry, which is why I didn't run another one. I believe expense of getting there was a factor in the low attendance. Once a train goes anywhere near London, the fares increase considerably. e.g. Bournemouth - Leeds (where the train dodges London) is roughly half the cost of going Redhill - Leeds...

I hope CoLon happens and I hope to be there, but I am too busy to organise anything.
