Where do people normally stay? I see there's a Travelodge - Lincoln Thorpe on The Hill. There's a discount for group bookings (10 rooms plus).

Any thoughts?
I stayed there last time. Good eh?

Since I should be living on the "mainland" by then I am giving it serious consideration. Is there a place handy where are people are staying over? (It turns out Lincoln is 200 effing miles from Cardiff).

Yeah, we'll probably stay in the aforementioned Travelodge again.

The Lincoln Thorpe on the Hill travelodge is offering the Friday night for £29 per room and the Saturday for £32. These prices do go up though closer to the time so it's worth booking now.

Junaid stuck his £24,000 that he earned last year in an ISA. He now has a wife, 2 kids and a flat in Benidorm. In your face, Charlie!

Hey hey. Yep I've booked the day off work, just got to work out how to send you the money. I'm doing it via Paypal, does it matter what I mark it down as? I guess it fits best as "Purchase => Services" but don't know what the paypal fee implications are for this. You tell me what you want it sent as, and I'll send it :) Woo CoLin :D
Incidentally, Lesley, I'll pm you with my mobile, and we can make arrangements. :)

List of entrants is updated- we've now topped the half-full mark and entries are still steadily coming in so you really do need to book now to avoid disappointment. If your name isn't on the list but you have sent me payment let me know what date you sent it and what form the payment was in and I'll check through my records.

I've paid my moolah, booked it off work, now all that's left is to sort out accom. Who's staying at Travelodge? It seems to be only family rooms left, so dunno about sharing...

Hi Ben. I noticed through reading through the previous CoLins, that you were asking about the board games. I have one of those, in unused state (my family won't play me, they think it's sad :( ) Shall I bring that along?

Please- if everyone who can bring a board game does bring a board game it'll make things run infinitely smoother.

If you can supply a laptop with mobile broadband that I can do live updates on that would be so far beyond amazing it's unreal.

Edit: I've also updated the list of entrants. Just 14 spaces left... and some of them 'reserved' for people who really need to get their £8 to me.

How can he have stuck £24,000 earned only last year in an ISA? The maximum annual deposit is £3600.

Have you received my payment? My name still hasn't appeared on the official page. And I've just noticed that the 2009 results still haven't been put up on the website.

And is there going to be lunch provided for those who want it, as there has been previously?

The website will be updated at some point before the new year- but your name is on the list on the front page. Lunch details are currently a work-in-progress but I will have something concrete shortly.

My first countdown event! Is anybody getting a train into Lincoln Central? If so would it be possible to meet up and share a taxi to the venue? (I am poor because Hulme beat me to the £1000 prize) My train arrives at 10:06.

Just trudged through the current list of entrants and came up with the following stats (I might have made a couple of miscounts) :
30 contestants, 21 of which have been on the show, 14 of which have made it to series finals, 10 of which were octochamps, and 3 of which won their series.

That's interesting, j jjjjjj. Another is that with only 3 weeks and 6 places left, it would only take 2 people to register each week now for the event to be full for the first time ever.

With 5 people who have expressed interest on here but not confirmed yet (Andrew Herbertson, Ben Hunter, DOD, Allan Harmer, and Ian Dent), 11 more possibles in the official Facebook group, plus people who have attended before, and people who know Ben through the Scrabble community, it could well end up being a race to the last few places.

I wonder if there will be a thirst for more annual events after this, or even the revival of others, such as CoBris and CORED?

Lunch details are as follows:

Lunch will consist of a jacket potato with a variety of fillings (including vegetarian), followed by hot, home-made apple crumble & custard.

Cost will be £2.50 (payable on the day) but I do need to know now who wants it so I can give my mum (the cook) exact numbers.

Can't remember if I've already said but lunch sounds phenomenal. Apple crumble is one of my favourite puddings. If I get a 9, can I have two helpings? :P
