Ouch, unlucky Charlie, the conundrum is a sodder and no mistake.

Jon, if you could let me know what dates you're available, I'll contact Mark and organise a time.

I'm fairly flexible (in that I should be able to make 20 minutes to play) but any time really between about 2030-2200 any weeknight is perfect. Cheers.

For some reason he is communicating through Neb rather than direct with me. I'm hoping to play him very soon, as apparently he's a complete noob to apterous and therefore should suffer the usual lost points due to getting used to it all.

Quit your whining. The draw will be done tonight- quarter-finals being best-of-3, I remind you- and the rest of the tourney can 'catch up' as it were.

Mark beat me 87-77 (which was actually the score before the "tie-break" conundrum as Mark lost 10 points due to computer problems in the first numbers round. Well done Mark!

You seemed to take it in turns a bit i.e. when one of you had a max the other one didn't :)

Oliver - yes Friday at around 6pm should be fine, and I guess we may as well do the 2/3 in one go.

Thanks for the game Jon, and especially for sportingly acknowledging the problem in the numbers game. Maybe I just hit the wrong key -or failed to hit the right key! Soon after that the dialogue box ceased to register my comments, at least as far as I was concerned. Did you receive any of them? If so didn't get anything you sent in reply.

It's all a bit bewildering at the moment.

No worries. The numbers game was easy enough that it seemed unlikely you wouldn't have got it, but even if it had been more complex you are definitely somebody whose word I would trust completely on such matters Image

I was typing plenty of comments too, and assumed chat was just broken your end (I'm sure I've had it plenty of times before where my opponent has been able to see my comments, but not respond - I assumed that was the case here, but I guess not!) The only important bit was that I obviously wasn't going to buzz for the "tie-break" conundrum.

Thanks Dinos, it feels good :D

I'm a bit concerned though that there's no-one left in the tournament with the letters 'er' at or towards the end of their surnames. My record against such players in this tournament has been very good ;)

Uhh, maybe. I can't really work out what the problem is. I'll have to wait for the System Administrator to get back from the school run to find out what's happening.

For anyone who cares...

Unlucky Mark, particularly the first game which didn't get the conundrum it deserved. Incidentally Mark got the final numbers in the 2nd game but mistyped, so he really got 102.

Right, we're currently at 1-1, the third game got eaten by apterous and I've been trying unsuccessfully for half on hour to start a new one. Patience has run out, so we'll have to finish some other time.
