Co Bristol February 27th 2016

Post by Mark Murray »

Following the success of this years event, I am delighted to announce CO BRIS (Bristol) 2016 Saturday 27th February. **Players will also be able to play for points as part of the wider FOCAL event **

Bristol County Sports Club
40 Colston St, Bristol, Avon BS1 5AE
http://www.bristolcountysportsclub.co.uk/
Location on Google Maps: http://tinyurl.com/ksaw8ss

Presented by Mark Murray and Jeff Clayton, everybody competes in six games, in the traditional classroom setup:

- Three heats matches using the current 15-round format -- opponents drawn at random;
- Then split into groups of eight for the latter stages:
- 9-round quarter final (#1 plays #8, #2 plays #7 etc);
- 9-round semi final;
- 14-round final.
- The grand final in Group A plays out as the tournament showpiece.

Doors open at 9am for a 10am start, with free tea & coffee available on arrival.

A buffet lunch will be provided at 12:30pm and light refreshments will be on sale from the bar throughout the day. (Please advise of dietary requirements, where necessary.)

The grand final starts at or just after 5pm, and we conclude with the prizegiving by 6pm -- prizes will be on offer for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in every group.

Admission costs just £15pp and you can secure your place now:
- By PayPal (markmurray97@hotmail.com)
- By phone (07527 907065);
- By cheque (address available on request).

We have capacity for 36 contestants; spectators are also welcome.

-----

The Club is in a prime city centre location:

- If you're travelling by train, get off at Temple Meads and high frequency bus routes 8 & 9 (up to every six minutes combined) depart from the station forecourt. These will drop you off at the Hippodrome just a short walk from the venue.
- If you're coming by car, you can avoid the cost of city centre parking with the Park & Ride buses from A4 Bath Road, A4 Portway and Long Ashton -- please check http://www.travelwest.info/parkandride for details including times of last buses back to the car park.

Accommodation: there are a lot of hotels around central Bristol, but parking can be an issue. The ones below are just some of the hotels in Bristol, but there are a few more

- Travelodge Anchor Road: - hotel parking £7.50 for 24 hours.
- Hotel Mercure: (on-street parking can cost approx £4; secured NCP £15/24hrs).
- Hotel Ibis: £10/24hrs parking at nearby car park.
- Premier Inn: (no onsite parking)
- Novotel, Holiday Inn

Following the lovely meal and scintillating company after the event, and for those interested, a table will be reserved at Zaza Bazaar with money for this collected on the morning of the Co Event

Happy to answer any questions, and if you need any help with planning your journey or your stay, send me a PM!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

I have no doubt about it. On Facebook, if you see the amount of people confirming to go and maybes, we are already beating last years target. Just a bit early for payment for some people ;)

Hi,

Just looking into this one - rather than getting a P&R bus, am I right in thinking Trenchard St is £6 for if I was to park 9:30 - 19:00? Just seems a lot simpler than getting a bus...

P.S if anyone from between Birmingham and Bristol wants, I'm happy to pick up on the Saturday morning.

Hi Adam

Trenchard street is the nearest car park to the venue and one of the cheapest in town. I tried looking at their website re price and it isn't overly clear on price for the whole day. It does say up to 24 hours parking is fine and seems to be £1 per hour so anything up to approx £8 I would say for the parking. As you say, the cheaper option would be park and ride for £3 but it is extra travel on the day :)
