The new ODO words have just been added to lexplorer, if that's any use to know.

Not in use in Apterous yet I assume though?

They are, though at this point apterous is only partially ODO-ised. My vote would still be to go by the ODE3, rather than what is currently a fairly arbitrary hybrid of it and ODO.

Getting to the point where it would be good to know if there is a meeting-place (with food?) for Friday night? Somewhere as central as possible would seem to be the way to go, as people will be staying in various locations? I am happy to suggest somewhere, but others who have the local knowledge may be better placed? Thanks.

As suggested earlier, the Haymarket is a reasonable choice. My personal favourite over on the southside is the Auld Hoose where we ended up two years ago. There are numerous other choices that could be made depending on where the bulk of people are based.

Could consider two different ones for Frid and Sat, for variety? Thanks for suggestions, Ian.
PS happened to notice that The Haymarket will give you a £5 voucher if you befriend them.

Would have thought somewhere near to the station would be good on Friday. If the pub is anywhere near the station of the same name I'm not sure that would be a good choice as I assume most travellers would either be arriving at or staying close to Waverley. Saturday's venue can probably be discussed on the day. Agree that the Auld Hoose was good, as was the pub we ended up in last year on Melanie's recommendation.

As far as dictionaries go, I think we'll go for the paper version in general but there will be a copy of Lexplorer as it was on Sunday evening if people want to use that. Depending on web connectivity, I'd personally like to see ODO included for the final and as I said before if people agree to use ODO for a particular game it's fine as far as I'm concerned but others may hold different views and I'm willing to be bribed, especially with whisky and haggis.

Green Mantle - which does have an 11 letter word anagram, as Innis pointed out to us last year. Will leave others to ponder it.

Will anyone be arriving into Edinburgh Waverley at around 11am on Saturday? Me and Michelle should be getting there at 11:07. Possible taxi share to the venue?

Results and stuff... Innis and Jack played in the 15-round final. Innis won 110-107 on the crucial conundrum BAILGRACE, giving him three CoEdi wins out of three. Innis has now won five CO-events, which equals the record held by Kirk Bevins and Chris Wills.

Many thanks to Nita and co for another great event! I was just happy to get to the final and improve on my performance from two years ago. Congrats to Innis (again!), who was a worthy champion. I was still trying to work out what letters were there when he solved the conundrum.

Thanks once again to Mike and Richard for putting together a superb event, and to everyone else who made the journey up here - CoEdi is always a highlight of the year for me, and yesterday was no exception. It's really nice to see the number of non-regular-clubgoers attending on the rise, and long may it continue! Special mention to Jack, who I had to play a probably-unprecedented three games with during the event, and who was virtually neck and neck with me the whole way - with a minute change in fortunes, it could just as well have been him that took the title.

Thanks to everyone for coming and making it such a memorable event. So glad that it went ahead after having my doubts earlier in the year that it would. Going to a Co-event always reminds me why it's worth going to the time and trouble of travelling round the country to meet up and play Countdown with like-minded people and to discover that not everyone in the UK has a fridge! Hope to see everyone north of the border again next year!

Back home now, another great tournament. Managed to somehow get 5 wins out of 6 yet again, which still surprises me. I even played Rychelle 3 times, with the better half breaking my previously unblemished record, but there you go, it had to end some time, and I'll certainly take 4th place.

And thanks again to Mike and Rich for co-hosting, as well as Nita and the Edinburgh Countdown Club for their hospitality once more. 8-) 8-) 8-)

Now onto COHUD in just under 2 weeks time :!: :!: ;) :) :D

Thanks to everyone who made this a great event, and a good weekend all round, with a warm and friendly welcome being extended by the genial hosts and the Club members, who worked hard on everyone's behalf.
Scoring by points first adds an interesting twist and has an impact on people's playing strategies and number picks.
The third member of the Styles cohort should definitely be sending in his application form (but then, we have been trying for many years ...)
Congrats, Innis, on your third win.

Just realised this isn't what I meant to say. As far as I'm aware Nita and the Countdown Club didn't create Mike and Richard.

Yeah, there's been quite the furore over that post, so thanks for clearing it up after almost three long months of argument that has left the community in tatters.
