Round 1: E O A E L N S T P

James: ANTELOPES (18)
David: ANTELOPES (18)
Score: 18–18 (max 18)

Whoop! A lot of Co finals are full of very short words, but not Bristol as the players
leap off to an 18 point start with the 9-letter Darren.

Round 2: C K W B A I I L D

James: BLACK (5)
David: BLACK (5)
DC: ALCID, ALIBI, CILIA, ILIAC (5)
Score: 23–23 (max 23)

A black selection indeed.

Round 3: 100, 1, 4, 4, 3, 5. Target: 761.

James: 761. (100-5)x(4+4)+1 (10)
David: 761. (100-5)x(4+4)+1 (10)
Score: 33–33 (max 33)

A straightforward numbers game for both, and the players are still tied.

Round 4: R P G M O I A O A

James: POGROM (6)
David: POGROM (6)
DC: APORIA, PARAMO (6)
Score: 39-39 (max 39)

Just a few 6's in this one. The players settle for some ethnic cleansing.

Round 5: A O I D S H H E T

James: SHITHEAD (8)
David: HEADSHOT (8)
DC: HOTHEADS (8)
Score: 47-47 (max 47)

Both players use their heads to keep on the max, though DC admitted they would not have mentioned
the first one as it was before the watershed.

Round 6: 25, 50, 75, 100, 2, 2. Target: 884.

James: 875.
David: 888. ((75 x 2) - 2 ) x ((100 + 50) / 25) (7)
Score: 47-54 (max 54)

James won the toss and elected to be player one, so David was the one here brave enough to pick four large.
It pays off for David as he find the best solution to get 4 away and earn himself the lead.

Round 7: G I R A N N I C O

James buzzes on 2 seconds to say INORGANIC, which is correct.
Score: 57-54 (max 64)

James knows how to work his buzzer button to get the lead back.

Round 8: R Y D L I O E U E

James: yodeler
David: URODELE (7)
DC: YIELDER (7)
Score: 57–61 (max 71)

David declares 7 first and James realises what he has missed, but honestly has to go for the 7 he had
written down which unfortuantely lacks a second "L".

A urodele is any member of the newt and salamander family.

Round 9: O I E E R S N R R
James: SORRIER (7)
David: ORRERIES (8)
OT: IRONERS (7)
Score: 57–69 (max 79)

David spots the planets revolving on the mechanical model of the solar system to increase his lead
and James is sorrier than before that he missed it.

Round 10: 75, 3, 2, 5, 6, 5. Target: 251.

James: 251. (75 + 5) x 3 + 6 + 5 (10)
David: 251. (75 + 5) x 3 + 6 + 5 (10)
Score: 67–79 (max 89)

David goes for simple so as to not risk his lead and both players get an easy 10 points.

Round 11: E E E S M N T E F

James: ESTEME (6)
David: ESTEME (6)
DC: MENTEES (7)
Score: 73–85 (max 96)

The esteme actually goes to those mentors in the audience who spotted the mentees in there.

Round 12: V R M Z I U O U T

James: TUMOUR (6)
David: VOMIT (5)
Score: 79-85 (max 102)

David vomits as he sees James catching up.

Round 13: 50, 7, 3, 8, 9, 8. Target: 957.

James: 957. (8 + 8 + 3) x 50 + 7 (10)
David: 957. (8 + 8 + 3) x 50 + 7 (10)
Score: 89–95 (max 112)

James doesn't risk losing the chance of a crucial conundrum and sure enough it is one.

Round 14: G I A N T M I C E

David buzzes on 1 second to say ENIGMATIC which is correct and becomes the worthy winner of CoBris 2015.

Score: 89-105 (max 122)

Jerry unveils a six, but Tony enlivens things with one of the sevens.

Round 2: D F H E I A N I H

Tony: HANDI (5)
Jerry: FINED (5)
DC: FIEND, INDIE (5)
Score: 12–5 (max 12)

Tony finds a handy Indian cooking pot and Jerry is not fined for getting his five.

Round 3: 50, 100, 2, 8, 4, 3. Target: 431.

Tony: 431. (50 + 4) x 8 + 2 - 3 (10)
Jerry: 431. (100 + 8) x 4 + 2 - 3 (10)
Score: 22–15 (max 22)

A choice of which big to use gives 10 points each.

Round 4: R S D O I A R C A

Tony: ACARIDS (7)
Jerry: CORRIDAS (8)
Score: 22-23 (max 30)

Tony is distracted by the mites and ticks and misses the bull fighters.

Score: 30-31 (max 38)

Everyone has a quick rub down with this eight.

Tony: 421. (50 - 7 + 3) x 9 + 10 - 3 (10)
Jerry: 420.
Score: 40-31 (max 48)

Tony spots the trick here as the standard method only gives 420.

Round 7: O R E C A P T O R

Neither player buzzes. The solution is CORPORATE.
Score: 40-31 (max 58)

(Note: I didn't write down the actual scramble)

Round 8: N X N E A U R C I

Tony: CANNIER (7)
Jerry: CANNIER (7)
Score: 47-38 (max 65)

Neither player is cannier than the other.

Round 9: S L I E R T E G D

Tony: GLISTERED (18)
Jerry: GLISTERED (18)
Score: 65–56 (max 83)

All that glistered was gold!

Round 10: 100, 1, 4, 8, 4, 7. Target: 534.

Tony: 535. (100 + 4 + 1) x 7 (7)
Jerry: 535. (100 + 4 + 1) x 7 (7)
DC: 534 (100 + (4 x 8)) x 4 + 7 -1 (10)
Score: 72–63 (max 93)

James is the only person in the room to make 534 - Rachel Riley watch out...

Round 11: I I I R B T R A I

Tony: BAIT (4)
Jerry: BRAT (4)
DC: BRIAR, TIBIA (5)
Score: 76–67 (max 98)

Jerry: 225. 9 x 25 (10)
Score: 92–83 (max 115)

Tony is challenged to do it without the 25 and it's crucial conundrum time.

Round 14: I N N E R G L U E

Neither player buzzes. The solution is UNREELING.
Score: 92–83 (max 125)

So Tony becomes the B Division winner and Jerry second.

The same game was played by the C Division finalists - in that Philippa MacFarlane beat Margaret Marshall.

BTW James played David whilst in DC for this match and lost 100-105. An indication for the final?
