Re: Flashback!
I don't remember Cathy from the first time round, but looking at the picture on the Wiki, I can see how that could have happened to you. I assume Cathy was still a regular when you appeared. Yes, she was (1985). Carol's role was fairly minor in those days - numbers only, with very little chit-chat....

Nobody announces that they're leaving an internet forum. You just don't visit any more. Seems to me you'd have to be exceedingly self-centred to think that anyone would give a toss. Yes, though pointing out that no-one gives a toss after 18 posts maybe lessens the strength of your argument. See, th...

When Rachel was putting up the letters in today's show, her hairstyle gave me a serious flashback to Cathy Hytner. Anyone else?
Actually, is anyone esle old enough to remember Cathy Hytner?

Re: Has apterous killed Countdown?
As a still-relative newcomer to the board and one who is firmly in the Old Codger bracket (my appearance was way back in 1985!), I'm in two minds on this issue. I think that most of the members of this board will be pro-apterous and the performances are invariably impressive - even stunning on occas...

Re: Manchester vs Leeds
I wondered if the differences might be down to the use of HD cameras. I don't know if HD were used in Leeds or not - actualy I don't kow if they're used in Manchester! But I was conscious that facial blemishes etc seem to show up more now so maybe HD is a possible cause.

Re: Rachel Riley at the numbers board
Rachel was really struggling with the numbers games today and I was really surprised she couldn't solve the last one as even I managed it (and I failed Maths O Level!) The numbers were 50 4 4 2 8 8 with a target of 664. My solution: 4x2 + 4 = 12 50x12 = 600 8x8 = 64 I'm not going to criticise Rache...

Definite thumbs up from me. The colours for the new set appear a little stark but that's probably just a first impression and I'm sure I'll get used to it. My word - that's a shock indeed. My recollection of him is from 1985, so it's not current. But I remember him as a larger than life character (from Leith, if memory serves correctly). Was his untimely passing connected to his weight, by any chance? My condolences to all who knew him.
