As people have said, it wasn't the close game we were hoping for, but Mark was solid throughout the series and definitely the best overall player.

In Corby mode, I wondered if Andy decided he could make 770 only after Mark declared it.

Quite an interesting game. Neither player put in their best performance. Mark might be feeling quite lucky that Neil didn't put in a stronger showing and Neil might be feeling annoyed he didn't capitalise on a potential opportunity.

Totals of the columns go up by 2 each time. Seems pretty simplistic though. I'd say it's unlikely to be the answer they're after. It also renders the hexagon thing irrelevant.
