Changing the subject - I was very pleased that Jane picked the right 9. I wondered if she remembered it from my first show (as she probably hasn't seen last Friday's show), but then she admitted to having "captioner" down as well as RECAPTION. Anyway nice to see a female champ for a change.

I was disappointed with how well I did today, as well as with the contestants. I managed to work out 1 away on the first numbers (13 x 51 is 663 if it helps) in about 60 seconds, but the computer tells me it is possible, though 88% difficulty level. I then failed to get the second numbers...

The target was -144? If you type the solution into a calculator in that order you don't get -144 - you only get -144...

Can Tom Barnes make it to octochamp? His run that started by beating Cliff Barnes (no relation) is nearly over. His 726 points so far is already more than his mate Ned's total, but he needs the 8th win to get 3rd seed and a day off from taking part before recording his quarter final.

I would have been a little gentler on her, as this would have been my 8th show. I would have let her score 15
