Re: Countdown in Nottingham- 26th July
I am gutted. I would have loved to come to this (especially with it not being too far away) but, sadly, we have a 65th birthday celebration in Birmingham at lunchtime that day. Unless anyone fancies doing a swap with me!!

Gougere is Round 4? I'm afraid I still don't have access to my dictionary to check. If I've spelt it correctly, it's a sort of casserole topped with a ring of choux pastry.
Surely if you know you've lost, then you still want to get as high a score as possible and just not give up, so maybe Des encourages them to get a high score even though they wont win?
Surely nobody gives up however low a score they've got. No-one goes on national ...

Re: Des Chiffres et Des Lettres
Maybe I'm being stupid but I thought the whole point of a forum was just to 'chime in' if you feel you have something to add. And, probably of all of us, Jeff has the most to add on this topic as the person with (I assume) the most experience of DC et DL having recently lived in France for a year, a...

Re: SPOILER ALERT!! Des O Connor and his chatting
I have to agree. The impression conveyed is that Des sees the contestants as incidental rather than as the stars they really are. I have noticed that, on the rare occasions he asks the contestant about something on their card, he sometimes uses this as an intro to a story about himself. I think it's...

I did it a different way
75-7+1 = 69
9-1 = 8
69x8 = 552+10 = 562

Des - Hearing Difficulties
Is it me or is Des getting worse at not hearing or mishearing contestants' answers? I know David O has a Northern Irish accent but he really isn't difficult to understand and, at one point today, I felt like Des was almost morphing into the Grandma on the Catherine Tate Show. I almost expected him t...

Hi I'm Karen Pearson. I was on Series 53 but was completely rubbish and got anihilated by series semi-finalist Richard Heald (who was lovely!). Like Stuart Earl, I voted against this type of forum but, not wishing to be a dinosaur, I'm going to give it a go and see how I get on. I've been a fan of C...
