Was chuffed to achieve a personal best of 143 while playing along. However, am even more chuffed by the high standard; this must be one of the greatest games between two non-(known-to-be-)Apterites.

And rounding off the pantheon of best training practices for each Countdown discipline... it's very useful to learn all 9-letter words that are plurals, present-tense -S verbs, capitalised, not in the ODO or obscene to train for conundrums.

I could have sworn I saw one event where pretty much all of the scrambles were dictionary words with 1 or 2 letters changed (e.g., RESIDEXCE => EXERCISED; DNESCENDO => CONDENSED), which is how Apterous' shuffler generates them. But that might be co:incidence; they could have been written by someone....

Fun fact: If Paul completes an octorun here, then, only one month into the series prelims, he is already guaranteed to qualify for the finals.
