Re: Spoilers for Fri 19 June [The Final Countdown]
Well done Kirk; playing with so much expectation must have been very tough, but you rose to the challenge every time and held your nerve when needed. Best contestant ever? Let the debate rage, but there is no arguing that that was one of the most impressive runs ever seen. Jimmy...one of the nicest ...

Re: Spoilers for Wed 17 June 2009 [Series 60 1st SF]
In the Countdown context, would you disagree with my claim that remembering is less skillful than solving? No, but I don't see how it's relevant. The game isn't just a test of pure raw talent. Incidentally, if it was I'd still back Kirk over just about anyone; SUBSPACE alone is testament to his raw...

Neil, I agree with much of what you've said, but not with the notion that seeing a scramble before is lucky. As an analogy, suppose you prepare for an Integration exam; you learn all the techniques necessary. Moreover you've attempted lots of past papers, many more than any of your fellow peers. The...

Stunning game, really enjoyed watching this in the audience. Well played Neil for giving Kirk such a close game. Can't really kick yourself when he goes and spots ECLAMPSIA in a split second. I was chuffed to have 'beaten' Kirk but frankly, I doubt he gives a shit. Just one game away, now!

It's a bit of a rubbish one compared to some of the others, but there can't be too many people who have won and lost in both the champion's and the challenger's chair, but I have. 0/0 is generally undefined, but it certain contexts can make sense if properly interpreted. For example, consider sinx / x near x = 0...various arguments (e.g. using Taylor series) suggest that the limit as x approaches 0 is 1. So in this case 0/0 ought to be 1, if anything. In other contexts, it ou...
