I love the way Nick says things like "stand back" when he starts the clock. I hope he gives them a bit more 'warning' before starting the conundrum soon, though, but I'm sure that will happen or the contestants will simply get used to it in time.

Well, ARDENCY is listed in COD8 so I guess that's a tentative nod for its plural. There's definitely no DERACINES, though.

Surely driving a car is another good example. The clutch always seems to me to be a strangely devised piece of equipment. But maybe it just ends up being more intuitive or useful in the long run than something that's easier to grasp (IMO). Or is it just that way because of the mechanism it controls ...
