Re: Tuesday 15th July 2008 (Series 59 Prelim 17)

Round 12: T Z S C U O E R M C1: CROUTES (7) - then spots 'costumer', which DC says is fine, but actually it's our old friend, the US spelling! Another oops: thinking about this again, I guess COSTUMER is OK (as DC seemed to think), as although it is US, it is not (quite) a spelling variation (rathe...

Re: c4countdown Podcast

Just remembered that I meant to also say that I thought the 'quotes' section was quite entertaining, despite your saying that it wasn't very good and you wouldn't do it again. The random Wiki page was also quite funny, and the 'sausage moment' is already destined to become an (admittedly minor) lege...

Re: c4countdown Podcast

Very impressive, guys, especially for a first attempt. I think it's definitely worth pursuing and Jason's idea of having guest slots is a good one. I'd be happy to have a go, if you like (unless you're hoping for more venerable guests, like Victoria Mather). And Jason's idea about chart music might ...

Thanks for clearing things up, Charlie.

I'm happy to go halves with Dinos, although I'm not sure when my first recap is supposed to be! I've tried to work it out, and by my reckoning, Dinos was due to do July 1st, but you did it, so I will await my instructions from either yourself or Mr Sfyris!

 Ooh, just reread some of the posts and noticed that Charlie has already offered to do them - I certainly don't want to tread on any toes... Anyway, my offer still stands. Charlie, do you want to go halves, or as you do Tuesdays (I think), should I do Mondays? Anyone else want to have a bash?

Re: Monday recaps

Unless I'm missing something, this thread seems to have gone off at a bit of tangent - not that I'm complaining - and it seems we are still without a Monday recapper. Has Jim be kidnapped by the C4C mafia in an attempt to force him to continue with his legendary recaps, and I'm just out of the loop?...

Another error which came up in Damian's practice game last night: SKEPTIC is listed in CountMax, but it shouldn't be because it's an American spelling Edit to say: just noticed that none of the errors reported above (UNBOOT, HIRABLE etc.) have been corrected... I agree too. I think Susie Dent is splendid. Does anyone remember a rather bumptious man - may have been called Richard Sampson (?) - who always crossed off the word he was talking about with a flourish of his pencil. I didn`t like him at all in Dictionary Corner. Quite a while ago. I remember him ...

Also why don't you like the disallowing of all mass noun plurals? (that's not meant to sound aggressive / sulky by the way, I respect your views a lot and I'm just interested!) I just don't like seeing what I consider to be acceptable plurals being disallowed (I'm thinking in particular of words th...

It was the start of the 15-round era, when the show changed from 30 to 45 minutes. The next step towards having every game ever recapped is doing all of the 15-rounders, and Soo is on the case. Small correction, Jono: the 15-rounders started in 2001. The basic plan is to work backwards, filling in ...
