FLORUIT is listed as a noun, so FLORUITS would have to be accepted. And saying that FLORUITED should be disallowed because it is already past tense in Latin is applying Latin grammar to English!

... FLOURISHED is a reasonable synonym, and that adding -ED is nonsensical. Don't forget that the point I was making was the inconsistency in allowing FLORUITED and disallowing FAINER. It is weird that they decided to dodge a clear definition.

I might be tempted to mention the FLORUITED/EXEUNTED thing, but that seems to be more of a Countdown thing than anything to do with the dictionary although I seem to remember some talk of there being communication with the dictionary people.

Great win, Conor, but you were lucky to get away with FLORUITED! I agree that ODE lists FLORUIT as a verb, but as the derivation points out, it is already in the past tense ("he or she flourished"), so it doesn't make sense to append the -ED, despite the usual rules for verbs.
