Re: Championship of Champions: Prediction Game

This was my first series so I'm a little in the dark about the other players. However, the Countdown Wiki has suggested that these will be the results. David O'Donnell vs James Hurrell - O'Donnell wins Junaid Mubeen vs Tony Warren - Mubeen wins Richard Brittain vs Jon Corby - Corby wins because he ...

Watch out for my good mate David Langer on this week's Krypton Factor. Incidentally, he ia a former Brainteaser winner and Countdown contestant, losing to Chris McHenry despite having a 16 point lead after round 12.

As suggested by Charlie himself, why not have a game of the week and/or performance of the week feature? Anyone who thinks they have anything worthy of mention should nominate themselves and the forumites can vote. Or something like that. Admittedly I haven't fully thought this through.

Probably the most tense game I've ever had online. Missed quite a few maxes along the way, but incredibly matched each other over the first 14 rounds. Bit lucky on the conundrum as I learnt the SONICATE extensions very recently:

I had tons of words diallowed. I pride myself on being a flair player, which for me means risking just about anything. Admittedly, it costs me lots of points, especially in my early heat games where my word knowledge was less substantial than later on. Still, it makes things more fun (for me anyway)...

When I was on in 1998, there was a contestant in the game before mine called Alex Davis who was making his second appearance as a challenger in 6 months. If I recall correctly he was allowed on again because he'd ever so slightly mispronounced the crucial conundrum PROBOSCIS. He also lost second tim...

How about being dragged along as a parent 4 times in the last 5 months to watch (even when Kai wasn't actually playing on one of the occasions)! I think Paul Howe made an excellent point a while back about the added value of learning obscure words. There's the obvious advantage that if you can spot them when they arise you are quids in. But even more effective is that immersing yourself in so many words makes it easier to spot normal words t...
